Any Single Disney Men Out There?

I agree with deltachi8. It doesn't matter how much I've ever planned a vacation; something always goes wrong. It may be big or little. What matters is how you handle it. I've had all kinds of things happen, and with the exception of a death in the family (not while at Disney) I have always dealt with it, and moved on to enjoy the trip.

A real positive story I can relate happened at the All Star Music a few years ago. It shows that a Disneyfied guest can really help out big time with an inexperienced CM.

I was there on work but had ended my day early to play a round of golf. The lines were formed at the front desk for the 4:00 check-in and I was walking by when I heard another guest ripping into a CM supe for Disney mucking (not the actual word used) up their parties reservations. They were there for a wedding and the Bride and Groom (not even present) didn't have a room where the rest of the party were staying. The rest of the party was planning on "customizing" the B&G's room. The CM, a newbie to management was flustered and losing control of the situation.

Being a people person and having many (many) years experience dealing with angry people, I stepped in and asked if I could help. While the other guests were venting to me, assuming since I was nicely dressed that I was some kind of manager, I suggested the CM go and check to see if the B&G might have ressies somewhere else. She took my advice and slipped away while I actively listened to the outraged guests. About the same time I saw the CM returning, I asked the PO'd guests if by any chance the B&G had "customized" one of their honeymoon rooms and was pleasantly surprised when the yelling and screaming came to an immediate halt and they began to chat among themselves.

The CM stepped up and informed them that the B&G did indeed have reservations, but at another Disney hotel and that a specific request had been made that the information NOT be given to ANYONE. Apparently they knew what would have happened and cancelled their room at ASM.

The CM thanked me profusely and asked which division of Disney I was a manager in. I was complimented that she thought I worked there and she was amazed when I told her I was just a guest trying to help out. She said she was new (out of college) and this was the first time she'd had to deal with an enraged guest. I told her that although they were few and far between, she would run into them occasionally and if she learned to listen and identify the real reason someone was upset, she would be more effective in dealing with the few as well as the many.

I see this type of thing at the resort and DVC check-in desks all too often and it makes me wonder why anyone starting a vacation would behave in such a manner. I know Disney will bend over backwards to make sure every guest has a positive experience but even Disney can't read minds...

I'm working in Pascagoula and living in a campground where there are DOZENS of FEMA trailers....not fun but no one wants to come to this area to work right now. I work in Physical Therapy...so go where needed the most.. :thumbsup2 It's going to take years still to get things back to even decent here...keep praying for everyone down here!!!!!

Thanks so much for helping out! Everytime I go it brings tears to my eyes b/c that's where we went in the summers growing up. So sad.

As for worst Disney trip, I've only been once so I have no complaints!

Same here. Well, I've been to the park three times before (twice to MK and once for an evening at MGM) but those were in/out deals as parts of other trips but the last one was the first real Disney vacation and I don't really have any bad memories at all (except that it had to end.) :teeth:

Worst Trip: 2001 took my now EX to WDW for his first EVER vacation..all he did was whine and moan...needless to say...that is part of the reason he is now an EX...if ya can't be happy at WDW then sheesh will you ever find it??? :confused3 :rolleyes1

In 2003 My now X decided he didn't want to be married anymore...but we already had a trip to WDW planned so thinking maybe this is what we need to get our family back together I decided to go ahead with the trip. My DD then 9 months old's first trip to WDW and our first time at MNSSHP. We were not there 30 mins before my X had to call his girlfriend. He missed her and didn't want to do anything. He wanted to stay in the room and talk to her on the phone. The first few days I was mad, then I decided he was not going to ruin my vacation. Since DD was so young I left her with her dad and my DS and I headed for the parks. We had a great time. I had to hear him complain about being with DD so much but I told him then he needed to come with us and not complain. The worse night was on Halloween night while at MNSSHP, the X didn't want to be there and kept saying lets go lets go. My DS was so upset he started crying (not the first time his dad had him in tears that week) I told him to go I would take care of the kids. He left and after calming DS down we finished trick or treating and saw a great parade.

Overall the trip was stressful. But it brought my DS, DD and I closer together and we have had nothing but great trips since.

OK, topic for the day (or at least a proposed one):

What is a special useless talent or ability you have? (Lets keep it PG)

Mine is probably Movie Quotes - they pop into my head constantly and drive my employees nuts.

I don't know I think all my special useless talents are very useful. To me at least. :teeth:

psychic count? It has never really benefited me in any way and is more of a bother than anything.

My best Disney World experience was the first one.....1972.....only the MK existed.....tons of people.....hot, humid, but oh so magical!

For those of you relatively new to Disney World, you have no clue as to how the world has changed for the day it opened until now. I am always amazed when I look back at photos taken 35 years ago and compare them to the recent ones. I see the way MK has matured and become more beautiful with each passing year. :)

I've been told that all my Disney World knowledge is useless.

Ridiculous :furious:

I am also very good with movie quotes. I always beat everyone in movie trivia games. I can also find where I'm going by going down back roads without looking at maps. (Not too useless though)

So can I! (unlike my friend who pretends she can by tying a cherry stem and putting it under her tongue for later, just to swap it out)

I can tame wild beasts.. really. I'm good at taming feral cats.

seriously tho? I can put my thumb all the way forward to touch the front of my wrist then all the way back to touch the back of my wrist.

I'm afraid we're going to need video proof.
