I  to SCRAPBOOK! We are leaving for our FIRST FMILY WDW trip in 30 more days!! I was wondering about using some of the creative memories stuff to make my kids their own autograph books! Then when I get all of my film developed ... scrapping the pictures into the autograph album! Has anyone done this sort of thing? If so I would like to hear about it!!!! :grouphug:

Hi! What I did was buy an autograph type book at Target for $1.00. I tried to make sure when the characters signed the book that nothing was put on the back page of each autograph. I am removing the autographs from the Target book and putting them in the Creative Memories Disney small book (I think it is 7X7). I put the picture that was taken of the character on the left hand side and the autograph on the right hand side so when open, both are on display. I didn't want to carry around my Creative Memories book so that is what I came up with.

A friend of mine just took the creative memories disney album and had the characters sign right in it. Then put the pictures with the signatures later. She didn't seem to have a problem with keeping up with it. I'm not sure I want to keep up with it. I was thinking of cutting some scrapbook approved cardstock into like 4x6 cards, maybe putting them on a ring.

Yes. I got a spiral scrapbook and had the characters sign one side of the page and put a picture on the other. We didn't fill up all the pages, so I just scrapped on the rest. He has his own mini scrapbook.

I'm trying to decide what to do this year. I'm thinking of getting a 6x6 scrapbook and either having them sign the page or ahving them sign a small peice of paper or a blank index card and putting it in the book later. I also thought of having them sign 4x6 index cards and just getting him a small photo album to put the signature index card in the album next to a picture of him with the character. Hmmm, choices, choices. I also htought about having them sign small paper or cards adn jsut sticking t hem in my scrapbook. I can't decide.

Greetings fellow scrapbooker! We will also be in Disney in about a month.... and I just completed my son's scrapbook/autograph book :) Actually, I have all of the pages made - I just have to put them into a book. I bought the Creative Memories small Red and Black Mickey Mouse Book (recently Discontinued - but if you have a consultant I am sure she can still get one for you) and I plan to just put the pages into that. I left space for the charachters to sign and I also pre-matted an area for the picture of the character signing. We have a digital camera - so I will print all of those pictures wallet size just for that book - and make a full size scrapbook with the other pics... ( I haven't thought about this too much or anything).

Good luck!!!! I am sure you will have a great time!!!!

I did... I can't wait to take it to the world either...

Last time I made a simple one and it was such a hit that I wanted to do it again. Soon I'll scan and post pages!

I am pretty much computer illiterate, and therefore unable to give you any sort of simple link, but if you go to www.twopeasinabucket.com and search the "peanut gallery" for disney autographs, you will find some REALLY cute ideas. Hope this helps!

What I did with my personal autograph book is:
I had 4x6 ish pieces of card stock in lots of colors and had each character sign a piece. I than mounted them on 12x12 card stock with pics and some stickers. I also have seen the 7x7 CM mickey album get used as autograph book. I personally am using mine for a server memory book.

I have done the creative memories scrapbook as my sons autograph book twice, once at WDW and once on Disney Cruise. He absolutely loves them and looks at them on a regular basis!! I got the disney snap pack and put it all in before we went. The only thing is not all the characters have things in the snap pack...and some of them tried being mad when you didn't have them. Chip or Dale did this to us. We had a few blank pages in the back for this and I ended up buying some of the scrapbooking stickers for WDW and put more characters in.
I had them sign and then cropped a picture of my son with the character on the page, too.

We just did ours tonight! We went to a craft store and bought a couple of stamps and some stickers. They aren't the prettiest things in the world but they are original and it really got the kids in the MICKEY spirit! They are about 1/2 as excited as I am.

I preprinted 6x6 sheets before we went on the computer with each characters picture and then I made a photo page when we got back to put across from it -

the characters LOVED that their pictures were on the sheets -

then I put them in a 6x6 album in sheet protectors - Julia looks at it everyday

Just got home. On advice from my friend and CM consultant who has been to WDW many times, I got 2 of the 7x7 ltd ed. red/black mickey CM scrapbooks and had the characters sign wherever--asking them to leave some room for a photo (most know to do this anyway). We'll put in extra pages later to insert photos. That way, we did not have to instruct the characters to sign here vs. there-they could pick any page and it took less time (we had 2 so...). Only thing is, I'd recommend packing them in a large ziplock. I had used a label maker to distinguish DS's from DD's book, and many characters took the time to flip to the cover to personalize their autographs for my kids! ;)

As many have suggested, use thicker pens--CM carries some and I found some from Sharpie that are water based poster paint, approp. for archival/scrapbook use. It's hard for the animal characters to use the thinner, regular pens, with their big hands. The CM books are slightly more cumbersome to tote from park to park than the smaller WDW autograph books, but they will be worth the work later. I plan to use the disney snap packs from CM also.

We did something similar with the smaller Creative Memories books. In preparing for the trip, I had my kids pre-scrapbook the pages w/paper and stickers. Then we used spiral bound index cards (lined on one side, printed on the other) for autographs. When we returned home, I gave them pics to put in their books. If they didn't have pics to match the stickers, I gave them alternate pics to put on those pages that seemed to fit the theme as best as possible. They also added a few pages where necessary. Worked out beautifully. One of their prized possession.

Here is a link I saved when I saw it as I thought someday down the road I would love to make autograph books for my girls. I'm waiting until they are both a bit older so they understand it (they are only 4yr and 20 mos right now).

Good luck ... I also like those 7x7 ones with the pictures on one side and the autograph with the pre-printed picture on the other side. So cute!

I did the 4x 6 size cards in pastel colors ( I cut them myself though) and clipped them with a binder clip. they fit into a ziploc and were easy to cary and manage. When we got home, I put them in a Disney album we got a few years ago (it is a stange size at 7x 12) but there is room for a 4 x 6 photo and the card on each page in pre cut slots. That way DD knows who each signature is even if she can't read it.

2 years ago me ds's (ages 6 & 4) made an autograph ABC book. I bought a spiral bound cardstock notebook from Micheals. We decorated each page with colored cardstock and put stickers to coordinate each character. For example if it was Cinderalla, she was on the C page and we put stickers of her on the page as well. It was a great learning tool to put together to learn what letter each character started with. And while we waiting in line for a character they had to think what letter he/she started with and go to that page.

We got a wonderful response from the characters. :goodvibes The Mad Hatter was upset because we did not have a sticker of him and told my DS to go to the shop and buy it and put it in. Some of the characters were glance thru it and told the kids what a great job they did.

Last year we did not do the ABC, but we still got the notebook and decorated each page for the characters to sign. I ask the boys this year if they even wanted to do the autograph books and of course they said "yes. They really enjoy decorating the pages and it gives me extra one on one time with my boys!!! :sunny:

I LOVE this idea and I think that this is what I'm going to do. Thanks :Pinkbounc

I have a few questions though. What type of paper did you use? I want to do a 6x6 album, so I can cut 12x12 into 4. But I wouldn't be able to type onit. Any ideas for that? I guess I could just decorate it with stickers, but I really love the look of yours. Did you use heavy weight paper so that it woudl hold up? How did y ou store it? Did you use any type of clipboard or anythign to press on? Thanks!!!!

I used cardstock from a craft store and used 8 1/2 by 11 paper and cut it down to size after I printed it - I kept it in a ziploc baggie during the week - I didn't have a clipboard but that is a great idea b/c a few characters (Pluto especially) had a hard time with it

my intention when I posted was that anyone who wanted to make this could -and I am more than happy to help you out - but if you are interested I do sell them on ebay ($5 + sh for 25 pages) with your choice of characters
