any rumors on MK restaurant?

Years ago we decided to have lunch at the Tavern (?) in MK. That were the days of walk up.

When we got into the waiting area we started to notice who showed up after us were getting seated. We were a party of two. Instead of taking us in order they were waiting for tables for two to open up. Needless to say there were 6 parties of two waiting.

When I figured out the pattern I went up to the hostess and demanded to be seated. I also explained to the other 5 parties what was going on. If pressed for details I would have to say the boston tea party was calmer. We all circled the hosted and finally the manager opened up a section.

I would not personaly try to book a larger table to get an ADR. However, if I see a restaraunt that is being overly strict on it's seating policy I'm not going to take it lying down. You just have to be "polite, but firm" after you have waited a period of time. If they continue to seat larger parties in front of your reservation usualy a manager can get you seated. Most places can get a party of two on a 4 top with little trouble.

Disney, of course, is a world of it's own. For your ADR's just keep trying. Odds are very good someone will cancel.

Here is some pixie dust for you. pixiedust:

If a restaurant has booked all 2-person tables, but has 4-person tables open, it sort of seems like it might work out (my math could be off, I guess...) if you at least gave people the option of seating two 2-person parties at one table for four. Let them know in advance they will be sharing, so if that presents a problem for anyone they can make other arrangements or dine elsewhere, but this would help ensure you have every table full and fairly seat all dining parties of any size.

This is customarily done in railroad dining cars - no table ever has just two people - every seat is filled (out of necessity - just 48 seats in the diner). If you are a party of two you will always be dining with two strangers.

I just got back from DW and we had ADR's every day, when I made ressies I told them there were 4 adults and 1 infant and specifically told them we did not need a high chair. When we arrived at the TS for our meals they repeatedly sat us at a table for 6 since we were a party of 5. Now you can argue all you want and complain about how some one might say they have a party of 4 when they actually only have a party of 2. That it could lead to lost revenue for the restuarant for the wait staff as well as the restaurant totally unfounded.

We had ressie for Sunday morning breakfast and Sunday lunch but had to cancel at the last minute because I awoke at 3:30 in the morning with either food poisoning or a bad stomach virus. So because I was sick you want me to be charged $10 a person. No that won't fly with me, not with the money I spent already.

One other thing I didn't like about the ADR's i had called several times to get the seatings we wanted and not until the 4th or 5th time was I informed that I could break up our party and possibly get two tables near each other. Two of the adults that were with us are teenage boys, we wanted them with us to eat but they are quite old enough to sit by themselves a few tables away.

What I would also like to see changed is that people who stay on property should get priority over people who stay off property. We paid a ton of money to stay where we did and it was much more than the $4000 someone mentioned earlier in this thread. Thats just my .02 worth feel free to disagree all you want.

Here are my 2 cents. For my trip in September my brother REALLY wanted to eat at O'Hana for dinner. Of course, he decided to come after I made my ADR's at 180 then had to change them all when the in laws decided to come, so when he through in I had yet another round of ADR's to make. Anyhow, I could not get an ADR for O'Hana for ANY of our dates. After WEEKS of calling to see if there were any cancellations, one very nice CM told me "I don't have a table for 11, only for 15, do you have 4 more people who will be joining you?" I can be slow on the uptake sometimes (I prefer to think of it as incredibly honest). After I thought about it, I called back and took that table, then posted on the DISboards that I needed a party of 4 to join up for dinner at O'Hana. Guess what, I had NO problem getting those 4 seats filled! We just asked for separate checks and it was nice to meet some fellow Dis'ers!

This might be an option for others.

Where were you planning to park the infant? Under the table? Or was the infant to be in somebody's lap the entire time of the meal? Or in the aisle or space between tables where somebody could trip?

There is good reason for requiring a seat space for an infant.
