Any room discounts available at Christmastime?

We just got back from a Disney trip 2 days ago, so of course now my mind is turning to "when can we go back?" We have never gone at Christmastime and I know it is BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. We don't need to see and do everything as we've been there many times now, so we'd just be focusing on doing the Christmas stuff exclusively.

Are there any resort discounts at all during this time? We are AAA members if that helps.

Also, we don't want to rent a car this time, so which resort do you think is the best for Disney transportation at this time of the year? We're thinking maybe a monorail resort would be the best.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

We just booked GF RPC at the AAA rate the other day! I would probably try to book something soon because the AAA rates supposedly go pretty fast! I was surprised to get it! Good luck! ( We love the GF at Christmastime and the MK resorts in general! BC/YC and BW have good transportation,too since you can walk to Epcot and walk/boat to MGM)

We went last month, Dec. 25-30 and got the BRP (AP) at the YC. If you find out there is an AP room rate for that period, it will most likely be worthwhile for one member of your group to get an AP for the room discount.
We paid $240 per night(includes tax) for a standard room at the YC.

I would suggest going during the first few weeks of December. Crowds are thin, pre-season pricing but exactly the same Christmas stuff! We have gone the last two years in December...pre-holiday season, which ends the 19th of december and found codes both years. A value resort ended up being 59 bucks a night the first year and i think 79 the second.

Definitely worth going this time of year and MVMCP is really special. The monorail resorts are good for MK and Epcot, you would still need to bus to the other two parks, downtown disney and the waterparks. We have stayed at several different resorts and never had a problem with the bus transportation (except at closing time, where you generally do wait!)
