Any rides for my 60'ish parents to avoid?

I'm the official trip planner for our T-giving week trip. My folks are in their mid 60's, with my dad much more adventurous than my mom. Neither have serious health issues. Any rides that might be too much for them, or my 8 yo DD for that matter? (Of course, my mom got sick on the teacup ride when I went as a kid!)

Thanks, and a big thanks to everyone here who has been so helpful to this Disney novice!

I would have them seriously consider Mission Space...I think it's a cool ride, but the sensations of gravity forces, etc are very disorienting.

That being said, Test Track is a fun one that is mild. I would recommend it.

Roller coaster rides like Rockin' RC & Space Mt, & Exped Ev might not be so good. Kali River Rapids was fun though and my 66 yo FIL loved it.

Have fun...

i guess you have to decide for yourselves since we on the board here don't really know what they are capable of. but the rides that are more intense are (in Mk)--space mountain, splash mt if they do not like drops but the ride is a pleasant journey and calm throughout until the drop. some seniors say big thunder is intense but it is a tame coaster. (epcot)--mission space(now they have a milder version) and test track may be too much though test track also is ok then speeds up but there are no drops or anything like that. just a fast ride at the end. (mgm) tower of terror, rock and roller coaster. (AK) possibly dinosaur, it is a bumpy simulator ride but it's good. kali rapids you will get very wet most of the time. the new expedition everest may be too much. fast coaster. i may have missed a few that i'm sure other posters will reply. i'm 56 and go on all these rides. but it depends how adventerous they are. just remember there is so much to do that missing these rides will not in any way detract from the pleasure of disneyworld.

Just because they are in their 60's does not mean they won't enjoy every ride in the parks...I would agree MS is the exception, but they would probably enjoy the mild version. Our last trip most of the people we traveled with were 50-75 and we pretty much rode everything and had a great time. Each person knows their limitations as far as heights, spinning, too bumpy/jerky (think dinosaur). Sounds like they are healthy so go for it and don't worry, if they ride something they don't like, they won't try it again..LOL

If they have no known heath issues, I'd recommend they try any ride that appeals to them. My 78 yr old mom did ToT and Splash Mtn the last time she went with us. There's Calendar Age and Physical Age. There are alot of very fit seniors and quite a few 40-somethings who are broken down wrecks. As for the young'un, same advice. My 3 yr old GD enjoyed ToT and Splash Mtn this March, Test Track & BTMRR also.

The ride I'd recommending avoiding would be Space Mountain - that one ruins my neck! Very rough ride, compared to Thunder Mountain & RnR.

Being a 60 year-old myself, I don't let age dictate what I will or won't do at WDW. It's just a matter of preference and physical ability. I have no handicaps whatsoever, but I have a fear of rides with steep drops...but then again, that was true when I was 20! There are only a few rides I won't go on. Splash Mountain is tame as "drops" go. So is Big Thunder Railroad, and I go on them every time I'm at WDW. There are advisories posted at rides that may pose a problem to people with certain health issues. Let your parents decide for themselves what they're physically and mentally up to doing.

My mom is 62 years old, not that you'd ever know it. She is in great health and does all the rides, the ToT and RnRC being her favorites. She also loved Test Track.

Mom has been twice and Dad has been 3 times. They were in the low to high 70's on their trips. The don't do Rock n Roller Coaster or Space Mountain and on the last trip none of us did Mission Space. Dad and I skip Star Tours due to motion sickness. Otherwise everything is fair game. They love Tower of Terror and Dinosaur and Splash Mountain and Test Track

I gave my mom a list of rides she shouldn't ride and she said I was dead on except for Dinosaur - I told her to ride it, it was okay - and she HATED it - she said it was too dark and jerky - she was scared to death.

My aunt rode Test Track at age 85! You can definitely include Test Track in your plans. :thumbsup2
