My DH and I try to hit one nice restaurant per trip. For our Feb 2008 trip we're looking to try Artist's Point at the WL for the first time We're not on the DDP, have the DDE, and have a 3 YO who is a pretty good eater and a good diner as long as we don't eat too late.

We've checked out the menu, but would love to hear any comments/suggestions about the restaurant.

We did the set meal when we went but I loved the following:

Mushroom Soup - To die for seriously and Im not a big fan of mushrooms. So creamy and yummy

Buffallo Steak - Now I tend to only like well done sirloin and so being tempted away from that was definately scarey but this was amazing. It's sweeter than a beef steak and having it medium it tasted like it melted in your mouth. My entire family loved this and I would definately go back to have it again

Coffee 2 ways - This was a really nice dessert. It had a coffee creme brulee like dessert and a mousse and both were lovely.

The set meal you get all of the above (choice of mains soup and dessert from 2 I believe) and a salad (which was nice. Had blue cheese and walnuts in it but nothing special) for I believe around $40 but can't remember precise price. You can also then pay around $30 to add the wine pairings which I also thought was well worth it.

Ohh the Tarmock Mac 'n' Cheese is also very good (comes with one of the steaks) and is on the kids menu I think. This tastes nice so might be a good option for the 3 year old if he likes mac n cheese

The Table d'hote is always good. My husband inevitably eats buffalo, medium rare. I like the cedar planked salmon but last time went with the halibut. YUM. If I was willing to make the necessary sacrifices to afford it, I'd eat here every trip.

Thanks for your suggestions LindaBabe and gismo1554. That buffalo steak sounds amazing. I didn't realize they had a wine pairiing with the fixed price meal -- that sounds like it would a great thing to try.

Yeah the wine pairing is fantastic cause you don't have to think about what to order with what and they match them to what ever option you choose i.e dessert wise I think my dad had port with his while I had a dessert wine when we did it

AP is one of our favorite places. We love the menu, which has choices that are very different from what you get elsewhere. The atmosphere and service are great there. We always request Pok for our server - she's especially good with children.

As far as the food goes, we start with the venison spring rolls and the smokey portabello soup (shared) as appetizers. For the main course its a toss-up between the pork chops (love the tillamook mac & cheese that this comes with), the buffalo or the beef tenderloin. Of course the place is famous for its cedar plank grilled salmon - we're just not salmon lovers. Desert is coffee two ways. Oh yes, and we get the wine parings.

Take a walk through the courtyard down to the edge of the lake and wait the the geyser to go off on the hour. A magical evening.

The buffalo is great! However, according to menus I've seen, it's no longer on the fixed price menu, which costs $50 for one appetizer, one entree and one dessert. The salad is not in addition to another appetizer, but you may choose mixed green salad AS your appetizer.

The buffalo is on the regular menu at a much higher price than it was at my last visit ($42)

All the items on the fixed price menu are also on the regular menu. And you can get the wine pairing whether you order the fixed price menu or not.

I'm going Saturday night and I plan to order buffalo so I will check. I'm on the dining plan so the fixed price menu isn't really an option for me to order but I can try to confirm what's on it now. The menu I have seen is dated November 2007 and has a choice of cedar plank salmon or beef tenderloin as an entree on the fixed price menu.

TDC Nala, I would think you could order the fixed price meal whether on the DDP or not. Certainly worth asking if you're interested in it. Have fun regardless.

We dined there two weeks ago and I loved the halibut. Most in my family order the salmon every time and love that. My DIL ordered the salmon but substituted the mac and cheese.:goodvibes

Since everything on the fixed price menu is on the regular menu, it's not much use ordering the fixed price menu on the dining plan. And once appetizers are removed from the plan, it wouldn't be an option anyway.

What I want isn't on the fixed price anymore, anyway.

Excellent restaurant.... salmon is wonderful. There is a small lounge area to the side that you can enjoy a cocktail in whilst waiting for your table... never been to this restaurant without a slight delay to get in...all part of the fun :lmao:

This is called the Territory Lounge and it's always been good to me.

Sorry since you said the pris fixe wasn't an option for you, I thought you meant you couldn't order it on the DDP. And of course, the appetizer is still included now on the DDP.

Yep, it makes no sense to order the pris fixe if it doesn't include what you want. We also think it doesn't offer the value it once did at AP and the wine pairings certainly do not.

We still had a great dinner.;)

That's sad! This was my favourite part of the fixed price menu! Guess Im going to have to order off the normal menu from now on.

Love AP and eat there every trip! DH always gets the buffalo steak and the venison spring rolls. Last Thursday of our table of 4 three got the buffalo and I got the halibut (heaven on a plate!). Any salad I get there is wonderful and always a little different in some way. The smoked portabello soup- what can one say? One of our friends got it at my suggestion (I wanted a taste!) and he was very taken with it. I just wish you could get a smaller portion of it because the full bowl limits my halibut intake, LOL!
Our service is always great here and I certainly hope it continues for years to come.
