Any Reviews of Liberty Tree Tavern without Characters?

We went last year to LT with the mindset that the food might be terrible b/c of all the reviews. But, it was actually one of our favorite meals and we are so glad we went. Everyone should try it and decide on their own. We will miss the characters b/c as another poster stated, it is better than waiting in long lines to get autographs and the kids so enjoy it.

We will try it without characters also.

We were there on 1/3, had to fit it in before the characters left - we loved the characters there - Minnie in colonial garb, what could be better:) We really liked it because it wasn't buffet - I hate buffets, and though the food isn't the greatest, it's not bad, and the kids will actually eat it. I won't be eating there w/o the characters with the same menu, that's for sure. I bet over time, we'll see a different menu come into play - it won't be popular left the way it is, imho.

We were there the same night for the same reason. Everyone really enjoyed the simple comfort food with no thought (it was a travel day for all of us) and the character interaction was better there than any other character meal in my opinion.

I can't see many people paying the same price for that dinner and no characters so I bet the menu will change as well.

Hmmm. The Liberty Tree Tavern family style Souffers Frozen Food dinner without any characters to divert me from attention to my food.

What an appealing thought . . . Guess I'll have to book that -- but not in this lifetime.

hehehe I feel the same way. I guess it's just the mac and chee that is frozen Stouffer's, but that alone made me feel like the meal was a TV dinner. Without characters? No way. DH actually LOVED that meal, so I guess we'll have to duke it out next time he comes with us.

The lunch sounds good, I would be willing to try that.

We were in the MK on Tuesday and walked by LTT around 6pm. There were hostesses outside letting people know that they were taking walk ins!!

For me, the only reason to go to LTT were the characters, the food is dreadful! I imagine this restaurant will take a financial hit and the fact they were looking for guests just a few days after the characters were discontinued proves guests aren't stupid!

Wake up Disney, I know you think guests won't notice but we do!

Just my opinion,

MsA

Lunch is actually quite busy, and thankfully there isn't a character to be seen at lunch. The problem with dinner is the menu, not the lack of characters, IMO. They are charging the same price for the same food, minus the characters. Hopefully they will extend the lunch menu into the dinner hour and that would probably increase business, as well as make me very happy. :goodvibes

I absoluty agree. I would eat dinner here if the food choices were a menu choice not a family buffet meal. I generally will only eat lunch here. Hopefully Disney will decide, either characters or good food. We need one or the other -- but bad food and no characters (for the same old price) is not going to work.

As we can see from this post alone 1/2 the people actually like the food, and the other 1/2 do not. So what is Disney to do? Why would they change the food when there is still a number of people who enjoy it. Shouldn't they evalutate how "bad" it actually gets before completely changing it. Everyone has different tastes and as long as they still get ressies and fill the tables why would they change what is served. From a business perspective it doesn't make sense. Just my thoughts.

Not having the dinner menu makes absolutely no difference to the lunch crowds. I doubt if it would make much difference at dinner.

I walked up to LTT on 1/8 at 7:30pm without a reservation and was immediately seated. I had the BEST waiter ever (I even stopped by Guest Relations to fill out a comment card - he did his job that well) and I ended up with an excellent view of Wishes at my window seat. The food was excellent, as always. I love the ham with mustard sauce and the green beans. Oh, and of course the salad. I have been to LTT for dinner before, when the characters were still around, but I didn't really feel anything lacking when I went last week. Not everything has to be character-oriented at Disney. I had a wonderful meal with a superb waiter and a view of Wishes to boot. If you haven't been to LTT, you should at LEAST try it :)

We go to WDW in August, so the dinner menu has never appealed to me, it just seems too heavy on a really hot day, but we do love the Lunch menu, and always go for 1 lunch. My kids are older so characters are not important anymore. I just wish that they would expand the lunch menu to dinner.

The menu for LTT dinner is not changing. The only thing that has changed is there will no longer be characters. But with or without characters still we love the food. :rotfl:

My daughters (21 & 16) want to go to LTT for the dinner food - even without the characters. I guess we're in the 1/2 of the people who like it. Sometimes - my girls just say that they want to go to the "Thanksgiving" restaurant!

I was disappointed that Disney cut the Characters. We do like eating there. It has been one of our fav's for a while. :thumbsup2

The current menu doesn't appeal to me either, and I have no desire to dine there unless it's for lunch.

Perhaps they can please everyone (well almost), by keeping the current menu and adding other options from the lunch menu as dinner selections, kinda like whispering canyon offering the all you can eat skillet and also offering regular dinner menu items. Also, expand the dessert menu.

Well, they could do something similar to Whispering Canyon Cafe. Liberty Tree Tavern could offer a Family Style Offering - like the existing menu, as well as Appetizers, Entrees and Desserts. That would please both those that like the current dinner menu AND the lunch menu.

Guess I am in the minority because my family and I loved the Characters at LTT.
We also enjoy the dinner. It is the place that our DGDs first started eating green beans! They loved them and now eat them all the time.:woohoo:

The whole purpose of going to WDW is to have fun with Mickey and the others. If they continue to take the Characters away, WDW will become just another amusement park instead of a magical place where we all can go and forget the problems of the outside world for a short time.:sad2: Just MHO.

Totally agree.;) The characters were great there and I will miss them. The food was good and hearty. The best meal at WDW--absolutely not, but good for a character meal. Without the characters, I don't know if I would rush back.:confused3

To those who asked, I've eaten dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern several times, the most recent being late September of last year. The food is poor to say the least, and I have sworn it off -- with or without characters.

Jim Hill is reporting today that ADRs at LTT have dropped by 2/3. It will be interesting to see whether and how WDW management will react to that...:rolleyes1

I've never been to Whispering Canyon. That type of deal sounds like a nice compromise. Perhaps they will consider it if ressies drop that bad.
