OK does anyone have any opinions on the Big River Grill and Brewery on the Boardwalk? Any thoughts on this restaurant? Thanks! Adding this on, how child friendly is this restaurant, we will have an 8 and 15 yr old with us.

I don't remember this place very well, but we ate there with our then 1 and 3 year old. It was fine, not great. It was child friendly. Not really a bar atmosphere. Sorry I cannot remember more.

Here's one I just posted

Ok Day 3
Starting to not be able to fit in my clothes...lol

Anyway ...we got a late start so we decided to head down to the boardwalk for b-fast. I figured we might try Spoodles. Only problem was....Spoodles does not serve b-fast. I swear I had read they do somewhere. Anyway...by now it was lunchtime....and guess what .....there are basically no restaraunts open on the boardwalk for lunch except Big River Grill.
So we walked into BRG and there was absolutleyno wait...the place was actually pretty empty. We decided to eat inside rather than on the patio beacuse it was a pretty hot day.
Our waiter came over right away and took our drink orders. We both just ordered iced teas because we thought better of drinking before going to typhoon lagoon. DBF ordered some nachos and salsa and a salad for apps...and I ordered the chicken skewers with peanut sauce. DBF's salad was good ...but nothing special. The salsa was very good ...very tasty without being overly spicy. My chicken skewers were awesome. The sauce was very tasty without overpowering the chicken. I could've licked my plate clean. For entrees dbf ordered a barbeque sandwich which for some reason he had been craving for the last few days. ( dbf never eats barbeque sandwiches).I ordered a cheeseburger. The barbeque sandwich was huge with large chunks of pulled pork. It was also very tasty. My burger was also huge. It was not the pre-made patty kind......but abour 3/4 of an inch thick. It was done perfectly...just as I ordered it. The fries that came with it were also really good. For dessert dbf wanted the chocolate cake. I am not crazy about chocolate cake but only really wanted a taste of dessert so we agreed on the cake. This cake was really good. It was not your typical chocolate cake. It had layers of cake with a type of mousse thing in between. I ended up eating half of it. It wasn't too chocolatey.
We also both had coffee with dessert.

I think our meal would have been around $45. For the quality and the quantity of food this restaraunt would be an excellent choice.
They also have several of their own microbrews....but we didn't get a chance to try them even though we vowed we'd come back later for a couple of drinks

My take, based on 2 dinners and one lunch:

Good burgers and meatloaf.
Good microbrews (welcome after a steady dose of the usual suspects at most other WDW spots). Wowzer's Wheat is my own favorite.
Service pretty ordinary, maybe even "poor"-a young waitstaff and management, who don't appear to care a whole lot if you enjoy yourself, or ever come back.
Drab inside. Next time we go, I'll opt for and outside spot on the Boardwalk.

Overall, a C-

I agree with Uncleromulus. Food is o.k. Service leaves a lot to be desired. It's not awful. They just act like they could care less whether you return or not. We've been twice, and won't be returning.

We have been twice and enjoyed it. Both times were for lunch and the sandwiches were really good. The microbrews were tasty as well. We have eaten both inside and out, and prefer to sit outside and people watch, when it isn't too hot. Our service was good both times, and because we ate after 2 pm, we didn't have to wait for a table.

Spoodles doesn't serve breakfast anymore? They did when we were there in December.

I am honestly not sure. We may have just missed it.....but the restaraunt did not look like it had been open at all. The tables were not set and the chairs were still up on top. But we did get there after 11:00 so they have already been done.

Love the beer sampler. Six little glasses of different kinds of beer. Don't remember the food for some reason.
