Is there any resort magic at Christmas? I know that you can't tell me what Pop Century will do to make Christmas special... but have you experienced any Resort Magic during your Christmas stays?

Sandiebean, all the WDW resorts are decorated so beautifully at Christmas. If you're into Christmas, I can't think of a more beautiful place to experience it at (you can tell I'm not into snow, can't you?! ;) ).

I spent 3-1/2 weeks at WDW over the holidays in 2001. I especially enjoyed the Christmas music that was played at the Contemporary's pool area. It was a hoot (the Chipmunks' and Beach Boys' Christmas songs were some of my favorites).

Love the resorts at Christmas. SOme of the hotels do cookies, hot chocolate, caroling around the christmas trees, characters and even a visit by Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves. My kids ha d a great time and always talk about that being their best christmas. I have 3 kids ages 23, 12 and 10 and they prefer a Disney Christmas than a Christmas at home.

Plus we loved getting the big stocking with the candy on our door on christmas day from the hotel and the staff.

Since Pop Century is a basic resort.. what do you think they'll do? Will they have a stocking on your door there?

Opinions?

When we stayed at POR and at All Star Sport we received the Christmas stocking.

I also brought a 4" fiber optic tree from home and added disney decorations to it. It was placed on a table by the window and every night we would come to the room with the curtains pulled back and the tree lit (housekeeping would light it for us every night). We brought Xmas clings and the kids did Xmas cards and we put those on the room window with garland, just like you would do at home. We had plenty of people who would stop by to look and take pics.

Use your imagination. We had the staff go in with us and they put our gifts under the tree in our room, while the kids were caroling and taking pics with Santa in the lobby.

Surprised, is not the word, when they got to the room and saw their gifts.

Disney is a magical place at Christmas. There is no other place like it on earth. The snow on Main Street. at MGM on NY Street, was just great and magical.

Enjoy.

We go every few years at Christmas time, and love it. But the best story is about 10 years ago. I think it was the first, or possibly second, Christmas season for Grand Fla. We got there a few days after Thanksgiving. We were in one of the long buildings, don't know what they are called, not the main building. Our room was on the fourth floor, right off the atrium. Anyhow, got up the next morning, and while the kids were grabing their stuff, I walked out onto the landing outside the room. Somehow they had erected, and decorated, a four or five story Christmas tree, overnight, without a sound. We were stunned to see it, not only because it looked great, but because it just wasn't there the night before and we never heard them working on it.
Next time we went down at Christmas time, we went over to see it, however all that was there was a small, couple feet, tree. We asked someone from housekeeping if we had only imagined it. She said they only did it for a year or two and it was too much trouble or cost. But boy, when we think about Christmas at WDW, we think about that tree.
