Any resort gift shops that are fun to visit?

We're heading to Orlando in October -- staying at Marriott Horizons. My girls and I love to wander around and shop.

Do any of the resorts have shops that are worth a special visit? I assume they let "outsiders" shop!

AKL has my favorite gift shop. More than your average Disney stuff, this shop is filled with African trinkets, art, clothes, etc. There may also be an artist on-site performing his/her craft.

AKL is my favourite gift shop too... they have the neat carved animals and african prints.

My daughter likes the table that you can play tic tac toe on with cheetahs and giraffes.

I also like the large gift shop in the GF.. they always seem to have something that catches my eye. I don't know the name of it but it is upstairs.

I was disappointed in the Atlantic Beach Wear shop in the Beach Club... it had nothing exciting and not a great selection of anything.

Make that three votes for the shop at AKL, I think it's called Mirambe.

I'd agree that AKL has a great gift shop. So does the GF, WL and if you are looking for tropical things the Poly. We like the gift shop at the CBR for sentimental reasons but I couldn't see anyone making a trip over there just to see their gift shop. BWI's gift shop is rather small and essentials only. The gift shop on the Boardwalk has a good supply of all kinds of Disney souveniers.

I wandered around all of the Deluxe resorts gift shops on my last visit, the only exception being Animal Kingdom Lodge & I truly thought the resort with the best stuff was the Contemporary! There is a shop called BVG- Bay View Gifts- that has just everything tucked into one shop. Clothes, kitchen items, bath items, art for your home, a candy counter, watches & jewelry---I spent more here than I did at World of Disney- it was displayed so well and wasn't overwhelming to me like World of Disney. Then in the promenade there is a HUGE pin display, plus WDW specific items like bumper stickers, pencils- you know- all of the latest 2003 goodies. Across the way is a kids shop with plush, costumes, toys, CD's, scrapbook items, books, kid's clothes. Then there is a sundries shop which had everything under the sun- diapers, liquor, food, milk, magazines, toothpaste, etc. It didn't necessarily have anything unique like how the Poly has tropical stuff or the WL has rustic stuff, but I had a LOT of fun shopping here!

I vote for the Contemporary Shop, I found a lot of nice things there. My second favorite resort gift shop was at CSR. I too was disappointed with the gift shop at the Beach Club

Another vote for the Contemporary! I love browsing their shops while we wait for our table at Chef Mickeys. They have lot's of great stuff!

Zawadi Marketplace at AKL absolutely gets my vote.

I love the African artwork. They had an artist there painting and he was also amazing to watch. The African sculptures and animals were absolutely beautiful.

Although I haven't been to the AKL gift shops (but I will be in a couple months!) I LOVE THE Contemporary shops!
