I've flown with ATA twice and I know from those experiences that they can and do change the schedule after you book.

What do you think about booking a flight that makes a connection in ATL with only 30 minutes between flights? How much of a chance do I have of missing my connection? Also, it's the last flight of the night so missing it is not an option.

I wouldn't chance it. The airport in Atlanta can be pretty tricky to navigate and you'd be so stressed worrying about it. We have flown Airtran 2x and once was perfect and once was delayed big time.

I actually thought that ATL was pretty easy to navigate. Very straight foward in comparison to YYZ.

Whenever I've flown Airtran through ATL, the gates have been right near one another. It's my understanding that the Airtran gates are all quite close together. That said, thirty minutes is a tight connection, and I'm surprised that Airtran is even selling tickets for something that tight.

Most of their gates are all together. Once we had to change concourses to go to our connecting gate. They had an agent at the gate that directed us to the escalator but there were quite a few people that had to make the same connection. Other times I have not seen an agent at the gate so that would be a big problem for us.

My concern is missing the connection and then being stuck in ATL for the night. We are going to LA and only have a week there so missing even half a day is not an option. Unfortunately this last flight works perfectly with my DH's work schedule. He can be in the office all day and then go to the airport. I prefer the SW schedule it connects in Vegas and gets us to LA 2 hours earlier but it leaves BUF at 5pm.
