Any Recommendations for Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort Rooms?

My children and I booked a Disney vacation which would've included viewing a Space Shuttle launch on 6/28/07, unfortunately, STS117 and STS118 have been rescheduled before and after our stay anfd arrival/departure dates. The plan was to arrive on 6/27 at MCO, stay at the Holiday Inn Titusville at KSC from 6/27-6/29, then drive to Disney for our stay at the Polynesian resort from 6/29-7/9. Since we already paid the difference to change our flight dates to coincide with the launch, and now that it has been pushed to August, we decided to stay on Disney for those two days. We figured we'd try the Caribbean Beach Resort from 6/27 to 6/29, then move up to the Polynesian on Friday. (Sorry so long winded here to come to my question), the question is; do any of you recommend have a preference on which themed set of buildings to stay in? I want to have a view of their themed Caribbean pool area and be close to the main building as well. I will be traveling with kids ages 18/15/10 and a 1 year old. Would you call it a prefered room? Is this a premium priced room? Any recommendations would be much appreciated.:dancer: :dancer:

the preferred rooms are the only ones close to the food court and yes I would recommend one of them.

otherwise as close to them as possible.

now if you like to walk - anywhere is fine. this is a lovely resort!~

 Thank you! My sister, who is planning our vacation contacted Disney to reserve a room at the CBR was told all prefered rooms were unavailable, that we'd probably get a parking lot view at a distant island area. It was noted that I am disabled and traveling with children, including a baby, as well as having existing reservations for ten nights at the Polynesian resort with MYW w/dining package, she struck out. We have to have separate reservations, treating a stay at the CBR for two nights as just that, a two night stay, even with an $8000 reservation at the PR, they don't take that into concideration. I called Disney myself, even looking into the Port Orleans resort, same thing. I'd like to note, the reservations cast member I spoke to was nothing short of rude with me, she was abrupt, short, no concideration to allow me to speak and had absolutely no vocal expressions of appreciation for my business, she did not even offer to check availability of other resorts... very disappointing, she gave me a sour taste.

KSoda,
Please visit this thread.....it is extremely helpful when staying at CBR. I discovered it last Nov when I booked a last minute stay at wdw and CBR was all that was available---in fact, I got the last room !

All preferred rooms were also booked for my dates in early Dec '06. I decided to request the following on my reservation : Jamaica #45 or Aruba #51. These are about the closest non-preferred rooms to the food court. Here's the map : http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/cbrmap2.jpg
When we checked in at 10 am (after catching a 6 am flight and being up since 3 am), I was told that #45 would be honored and it would be available at 4 pm. I asked if anything was available earlier and was told Jamaica # 41 was immediately ready so I took that. Granted it was much further, but we wanted the room right away since we were kind of tired. But you should request #45 or #51.
that we'd probably get a parking lot view at a distant island area. It was noted that I am disabled
I would definitely call back and stress the need (especially based on your disability, and ask for 45 or 51). Hopefully you'll get a nicer CM. How can they possibly say you'll most likely get a parking lot view ? They don't assign rooms this far out. Another thing that will help you tremendously is to check in early ! Be at the front desk as early as possible and request your bldg. I think the guests that check in after 3 pm, get what is left. I have had the most success with room requests when checking in between 9 and 11 am. Best of luck to you !!!

 Thank you again! I checked out that post and it is full of useful information. I called Disney again this morning and this time I spoke to a very nice reservation cast member, she was kind enough to take my request for Aruba 45 or Jamaica 51, I'll call back again five days before our trip. Thanks for the help!
