Any Recommendation on GARMENT BAGS?

i never use a garment bag...we usually do pretty casual vacations, but we are going on a cruise next year so we'll need some nicer cloths. I think the cloths will get less wrinkled if they r hung then i can just hang them up once in the room..

Any suggestions..

Well, it really depends on the garment bag.

I borrowed one for our last cruise that worked out very well, but it was likely one that was pricier than most because it was hard-sided.

Soft-sided garment bags won't necessarily keep away wrinkles and such if they are thrown around and have other bags stacked on them during the transfer from pier to ship.

I usually pack stuff in regular suitcases in layers...for example laying my husband's slacks in the bag first with the waist/thigh section in the bag and the legs hanging out. I layer everything as flat as possible with the excess hanging out the sides, then put stuff like shorts/tees/socks/etc. in the middle. At the end, I fold in all the 'tails' hanging out, so the stuff I want to keep as neat as possible is in effect 'wrapped' around everything else.

Works pretty well.

We have been on a few cruises, and usually take my DH's tuxedo along, as well as a couple of fancy dresses for me. We used a garment bag the first time we went, and the stuff still managed to wrinkle badly.

I just throw the stuff in the suitcase, and get it either dry cleaned or pressed after we get on the ship. If I recall correctly, it is $12 to get a tux/suit dry cleaned, or $6 to just get it pressed. That is actually cheaper than we pay at our local dry cleaner.

I used to travel a lot for business, and after awhile, I sprung for a very expensive garment bag. I will say that if you are going to go this route, price does make a difference. The bag I bought had an extra panel that folded out that was to accommodate women's dresses, and it had pockets in places that made sense. It was really a fantastic bag and I really didn't have stuff wrinkle. Anyway, my recommendation is to go to a good luggage store and have them show you higher-end garment bags. You'll pay more but frankly a good piece of luggage lasts forever.

I've had good luck with the Disneystore garment bag from a few years ago.
It has been on 3 cruises and is holding up well. Love seeing that happy mickey face on the bag when we grab it from the luggage belt.
