Any recomendations for a hotel in ocean city, Maryland? I have 3 kids under 10.

It's actually in West Ocean City but Francis Scott Key Family "resort" has a nice indoor themed pool, outdoor pool, splash area, volleyball, basketball, miniature golf, a playground and movies in their family room next to the lobby. It is a motel setting but they also have cabins.

The Beachcomber,it has a mini kitchen and very cheap and clean.

Second Francis Scott Key hotel. Decent price and great pool. The have resort in their name but it is a motel. Not beachfront, shuttle to beach. The best hotel (by far) is the Hilton Suites, expensive.

IF you're staying for a week and being budget conscious, your best bet is to book a condo through one of the vacation rental companies. You can find a one bedroom (will typically sleep 4 or 6 depending on bedding) oceanfront for around $1,200-1,500. You will have a full kitchen and a pool on property. North Ocean City is quieter and more family oriented. We used to stay at Sails II on 133rd...lots of the buildings are older, but fairly well maintained. There is a great park on 127th bayside.

If you're not worried about price, hands down the Hilton on 33rd is the best. Housekeeping comes in twice a day (if you want turn down service) and cleans up dishes, sweeps up sand and leaves chocolates on my pillow. :thumbsup2 Yes, please! It makes it a very nice parent vacation too! Excellent service, wonderful ocean front pools (two), oceanfront balconies, afternoon kids arts and craft activites and great location.

If you want cheaper, but newer, they just recently opened a Hampton Inn and Suites Bayside that runs about half the cost of the Hilton. I haven't stayed there, but I've heard good things.

We have stayed at the Park Place (5th Street) and it is right on the Boardwalk. They have a nice outdoor pool and clean hotel rooms. I believe they have two double beds and a pull-out sofa, so they can sleep up to six. I'm pretty sure they have a microwave and small fridge as well. We are going for Memorial Day and I think we are paying around $165 per night.

Another option is the Eden Roc (19th Street). Again, very clean but also economical. We have stayed in the newer efficiency-type rooms. Two doubles and pull out sofa and small kitchenette. I think they are around $200 per night.

We have also stayed at Boardwalk One (1st Street), which is a little dated but the location is unreal! It's a timeshare place but they occasionally have a few days they need to rent so they will do a partial week. Very small pool, but has two queen murphy beds, kitchen and two loveseats.

Last year, we rented a condo through VRBO at South Beach (7th Street)...VERY nice! Indoor and outdoor pool, beautiful rooms! We got a three bedroom/three bathroom street view. We stayed for a week in May and it was EXPENSIVE, but really really nice.

Good luck with your search! Have a great trip!

If money is no object, here's another vote for the Hilton Suites (yum!!!). A close runner up is the Holiday Inn Suites on 17th st. I've never stayed at Francis Scott Key, but some friends with small kids have, and they loved it!!! You must cross the bridge to get to the boardwalk, however, it is relatively convenient to Assateague Is. which is a little quieter. Years ago, we stayed at the modern but not overly fancy Crystal Beach Motel ocean front 25th st. It has a small kitchenette (no stovetop) pool and very convenient location during the peak summer months. Also, check out the Monte Carlo Suites on 8th st. Again, not elegant, but very adequate and within walking distance to attractions. There are many options for small, older family run hotels that offer no frills and may be in need of updating. They are fine if you're planning on hitting the beaches or other activities.

A word of advice about condos; many require that you bring your own linens and have 10 am checkouts. That's rough when you're packing up an entire apt.

FSK is fine but be aware of the 'vintage' look of the rooms and the very, very thin walls. It's a cute resort with a nice movie night and a few other amenities, and the staff was very nice, but my kids have specifically asked that we not go back due to the noise from neighbors.
