Hi,

I stayed at Pop Century from May 31 to June 4, 2007, and I liked the hotel. I have never stayed at a value resort before, but I have stayed at many of Disney's moderate, deluxe and DVC resorts in the past. I chose Pop Century this time as it was a solo trip without my wife and children (I was on a business trip for two weeks in the southern U.S. and I found a very cheap fare to Orlando for the [long] weekend in between my days of work).

I loved the 60's and 70's music playing at the hotel. I liked the cultural icons, especially the funny song names on the huge 8-track tapes. The food court was attractively decorated and had lots of great selections. The pools were very big. The room itself was clean and well-maintained. It was the end of love bug season so a couple of love bugs managed to fly into the room, but the room itself was great.

The only negatives about Pop Century were the small beds (though not a problem for me on a solo trip), and a lack of a fridge as standard room equipment. This would be common to all value resorts, I would guess.

Note that my room at Pop Century had an in-room safe just big enough to store my laptop.

Bottom line is that I thought Pop Century was a very nice hotel and I enjoyed my stay there. For such a nice hotel the price was very low compared to moderate or deluxe resorts.

We were there from May 31 to June 7. We really enjoyed it! The rooms seemed quite fine to us....well-kept and clean. Could have done with better maid service (had to call several times to get needed items (no extra toilet paper left in the room....just the roll on the holder, no soap left when what we had was obviously almost gone, not enough towels for the 4 of us....only left 3 one day, etc), plus my kids could have made the beds more neatly a few of the days. Not impressed at all with the maid service (and we left things tidy before we left the room so as not to make the maid's work any harder). But other than that we really enjoyed our stay and found the rooms/buildings/etc very well kept up.

We'd agree with this 100%...we had our first stay at POP from 5/16 - 5/23 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were in the '50s section and found the room to be in excellent condition and housekeeping did a fine job while we were there. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Our only complaint was that our trip was too short

It's so nice to hear the great reports! We just booked Pop for a Mother/Daughter trip in August. Can't wait!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Here's a copy of my POP review at allears.net. Hope this is helpful! :thumbsup2

My boyfriend and I stayed here May 14th-19th. We arrived to check-in at 1:30 pm and the CM informed us that our room was ready for us. The check-in was not at all crowded, and the CM was friendly and made sure our questions were answered. We got up to our room and realized that the request for a fridge must have been lost (I assumed it would be because I extended the trip and forgot to mention it over the phone). We went down to the front desk right away, and another CM straightened everything out and told us that our fridge should be delivered within an hour. So we walked around the resort taking pictures for a while, and when we came back to the room (roughly an hour later, I wasn't paying attention) the fridge was all set up. I don't know if it was a mistake or not, but the fridge ultimately did not show up on our bill.

We stayed in room #5436. We only payed for a standard location (we're young and felt up to a walk if need be), but were pleased to be placed in the 50s section so close to the main building. I was especially pleased because on my last stay at Pop Century last year, my family had to pay for preferred location to stay in this same building. Our room was located in a back corner of the building facing the lake, which we enjoyed because we never heard any noise from the pool. In fact, we never heard any noise from any of our neighbors except a shower kicking on now and then. There were only two of us, and we only needed the room to sleep and shower in between hitting the parks, so room size was not an issue. We greatly enjoyed the privacy and quiet of the room and its location.

The food court was crowded but not too bad. The worst day was actually the Saturday that we left (the 19th), but I suppose the resort was filling up for the weekend. That's why I'm glad we elected to stay during the week when most children were still in school. We actually had no trouble with lines or crowds anywhere in the World except for Saturday.

The buses were not a problem, but maybe we just got lucky. Often if we were switching buses, we would arrive at the bus stop on one bus to find that our next bus happened to be waiting. I believe that the longest bus wait we had was at the Contemporary Resort (we had dinner there on Thursday night) to get to Downtown Disney.

I have visited WDW more times in my life than I can count, and have stayed at several resorts. My boyfriend and I found this resort to be a great choice when on a budget. Maybe we just got lucky on this trip, but we had no problems with Pop Century, but we also consider ourselves much less picky than other travelers that we've encountered. All of the staff members that we encountered were friendly, mousekeeping kept our room looking clean and fresh, and we enjoyed our stay immensely.

I'm very happy to read your review of Pop Century. We are staying there at the end of August and we've only stayed at deluxe and moderates in the past. I've been a little nervous about staying at a value resort, but we need two rooms and this is our second trip this year. We stayed at the BWI in January and this trip came up because of the Free Dining offer.

Anyway, I feel a little better. After reading some of these posts, I think we will be fine at Pop.

Thanks!

First, I love POP. We've stayed there twice and I think it's a great value for the money. I like it better than some of the moderates. The rooms are clean and it seems to be a really convenient location, never waiting too long for buses. There's a lot to look at and see and do. :thumbsup2 I don't mean to hijack, but has anyone ever done laundry there? How's that? Can I bring my own detergent samples to use? :laundy:

Yes, you can do laundry there. The laundry room is right aside if theMain Pool area and yes...you can bring your own detergent. We put our laundry in and then went to the Hippy Dippy Pool while we were waiting . Very convient ~!
