We are looking for something in HS preferably and not crazy about Sci-fi. 50's is ok but no availability. We had a bad experience at H&V a couple of weeks ago so that's out. I am having bad HS dining luck lol! We already have Flying Fish booked another night.

I am hoping Captain's Grill reopens by December so we can just go there then head to HS (we are staying at Beach) but I am not sure on the schedule and it is not available for ADR yet. Thanks for any input!

Captain's Grille is changing to a new restaurant when it reopens so I'm not sure what to expect there as far as menu. We're big fans though so I'm hopeful it won't be a drastic change.

We dined at HBD in December for the first time and really enjoyed it. Excellent service and the food was really good. I always struggle with options at HS, but we will definitely be returning here.

After our January visit, my family voted it best park restaurant. Excellent meal, cocktails, and service.

About a year and half ago we had a very disappointing dinner at HBD and struck it off the list for awhile. Last month we went for lunch because I REALLY wanted the Cobb salad and our meal was great. Service was very good and it was a lovely, quiet and cool break from a very hot day in the park.

We eat there every trip, in March we did the outside lounge because I was hungry right then and didn't want to make ADRs. Had to have me a Cobb Salad and a glass of wine or someone was going to get hurt. We loved the outside as much as we love the inside.

I had skipped it for many years, mostly due to a couple visits with poor service, then had lunch there during my trip last fall and really enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the service.

We were there in April. We never miss it. The food is good, not amazing but solidly good and I just love it for some reason. The kids do too. It has good energy. Ask for a booth for sure. Cocktails are awesome. Happy place. Check it out!

We did it about 6 weeks ago. It was fine but its probably our least favorite signature. We felt a bit rushed. I had the cob salad and I'm not a fan. We did the fantastic package and even though we were on the Deluxe plan we could not choose another dessert. Our waiter as a bit snobbish, though he did an ok job of serving us. Our choice at DS is mama Melrose and we have done then all. We also like 50s prime time but are not fans of sci-fi.

Thanks everyone! I had the same experience as many as you with hit or miss food a few years back. Glad to hear it has improved. I think we will try it!

Went there as a walk in after a full morning of thrill rides at HS and Star Wars outdoor performances. We were hot and tired and the coolness of the booth and dark interior just seemed right after the blazing sun. It was quiet but no so much we felt we were in the wrong place. the service was "afternoon formal" as far as the table setting but the server was delightful and put us at ease.

After a glass of unsweetened iced tea (not over steeped as it is at many places; hate that bitter taste) we ordered and the fun began.
The kids (8 and 11 y/o) shared a fruit and greens salad and crab cake. I may never forget that they refused to give me a taste...sniffles.
The man had a chicken and pancetta sandwich that he seemed to enjoy until he took a call from his bank informing him that there was suspicious charges to his credit card and they shut the entire account down until we returned home...........sigh.
I had a bowl of corn soup. It was divine and I could return just for that. The scallop dish kept calling to me but I knew I couldn't eat so much and not want to collapse into bed immediately after so I regretfully passed them by.

Wish we were in the mood for dessert since I was interested in trying the grapefruit cake.

I was also a big fan of the food and themed décor at Captain's Grille, but alas, it looks like the new restaurant will bear little if any resemblance to it. They say it will be a totally different menu and it will be "New England comfort food" and the décor is changing from nautical to just lighthouses. :charac2::sad:

After Tiffins in AK, Brown Derby is my favorite lunch spot and really the only place I'll eat at HS unless I'm going with someone who's never been to HS before, then I'll go to Sci-Fi, not for the food, but the kitch. Navigation in MK would be my 3rd--but gets more and more difficult to get ADRs there.

We used to LOVE going to the BD. We don't do this anymore. To our knowledge? It's STILL a great SIG....

But it's sitting in the middle of a construction zone :(. Hence? Not sure how the BD is surviving :(. There is a great GM there.... and I suspect he is tearing his hair out :(.

We had a great meal for our family the first week of June. I agree that it is a great change of pace from the afternoon heat. My wife loved the filet, and my chicken dish was great. Even the basket of bread was worth the price of admission.

We were slightly disappointed in the dessert. We had the grapefruit cake (large piece) on our one other trip to Brown Derby 15 years ago, but the only dessert offering was an overpriced, underportioned pick three sampler with about a forkfull of each. But this is a small complaint for an overall fantastic meal.

My opinion: best in park restaurant at Disney World. We've eaten there 3 times this year and have left happy every time. Food always good, drinks good, and service excellent. We have two meals already reserved there for our next trip.
