Any Rebel Spies?

I was the Rebel Spy!

I think (and hope) it's totally random.

BTW, I see they have an "I am the Rebel Spy" pin. Doing some SERIOUS thinking about that. lol
I would have boughten the tee-shirt but I had already bought a Star Tours shirt before that ride, next time I'm there I'll have to get the pin.

We rode 3x on the first day of soft opening and my mom was the rebel spy on our first ride.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I had read that they pick the rebel spy by scanning for someone who doesn't have their glasses on yet. My moms weren't on yet. ON our subsequent 2 rides the rebel spy's were in different seats and neither of them had their glasses on either.

Now that you mention that, in every spy's photo they had thier glasses off...

Thanks for the tip! We'll try it in October. Just have to remind myself to tell the boys to leave their glasses off until the very last second!:thumbsup2

As an FYI, on one of our 9 "tours" with Star Tours 2, an empty seat got picked as the Rebel Spy. :confused3

We tried to sit in that seat the next time, but noticed that another seat was picked. It appeared to be completely random, but I don't recall someone wearing the 3-D glasses being picked either.

DS8 got picked as the rebel spy on Monday. It was awesome cause he is the only really big fan among us who would understand. He was on the end near the exit side & not wearing his glasses.

We couldn't get him to buy the shirt because he wanted to make a light saber but he did buy the pin.

My DS11 was the rebel spy. He was so excited. He tried again and again after that (sat down quickly, sat really still, faced fwd) but didn't get chosen again. One really cool thing I noticed was the script of the ride follows the gender of the person chosen! The new ST is awesomesauce in every way! And i'm guessing the reason they stress not to put on your flight glasses until instructed to do so is so that they can get a good shot of the spy.

Dang it!!!! How did I miss seeing the rebel spy pin!!??!!??

My great nephew got picked, he was pretty excited. I just bought him the pin, and will send it to him the next box i got for them!! Not sure if he had the glasses on or not, I was out waiting with the baby.

I've been the rebel spy! I've ridden it I believe 6 times, and it was on my 5th time that I was picked. My picture was horrible, totally not focused on anything, lol. But I didnt have my glasses on either!

So, this is a Star Tours II thing? Is this random based on which version of the ride you are on?

Will this continue after Star Wars Weekends is over, or special for the weekends?

I figured it was always a kid since it was a kid when I went on it, and a kid when DH went on it (we had to split our group since we did baby swap). All the men in our group went on a second time and the other guys came out making fun of DH since he was the rebel spy that time.

Yes, it's a Star Tours 2 feature. Everything about the new ride is random. I've heard there are over 50 different combinations so it's rarely the exact same ride. We rode it 9 times and saw many same things, but it was never exactly the same and I know we missed some of the different planets.

It will continue all the time, not just for Star Wars Weekends.

I think it is entirely up to the CM to choose. On our three rides, each time the CM excused themselves for a quick moment, stepped outside to the right (facing the screen) and then came in to do the spiel. On two of the rides, with the same CM, my beautiful 18 y.o daughter was chosen. No way would that happen. We figured the CM thought she was pretty and decided to do it. Our suspicions were confirmed when it happened a second time. By the way, the second time it happened we had gotten off, walked around to the front and were back on it within 15 minutes. Very fun!

How does that explain an empty seat being chosen on one of our rides?

The first time we rode it my husband was the rebel spy then 5 more times through and no more rebel spies in my family.

I rode twice on Monday. Star Tours 2 is really awesome!
The first time, a young boy was the rebel spy, but on my second ride, a middle aged woman who appeared to be sleeping was picked! :lmao:

Mine was horrible too! I looked extremely out of it (though, my friend thought the whole thing was hysterical).

I somehow managed to look stoned in my picture, so take comfort in that your was probably at least better than that. (Usually the reason I look like that in pics is because my eyes unfortunately are so messed-up-looking these days, but somehow it still happened even with both my regular glasses and the 3D glasses on. If anything, it just made the whole thing funnier, though.)
