Any reason to pick BWI over BC?

We are looking at extending our stay by 3 days in late August. Have not stayed in the Epcot area yet besides one night at Swan years ago. We have 2 girls: 11 and 4. Completely think BC is our resort but the BWI keeps me second guessing :)

Opinions?

If a balcony is important BWI only has 4 or so rooms that do not have a balcony, only about 50% of the rooms at BC have balconies.

If pool is important, we stay at BC. But we like the BW atmosphere better, always hustle & bustle & tons to do in the immediate BW area. I love them both but BW is my favorite of the 2!

Didn't know that. Yes balcony is important. We have a pool/lake view at BC. It is all that is left with the discount. Are room sizes different?

Rooms between BWI & BC are identical in size. Décor is similar as well. They both offer Deluxe rooms that are larger, but they are CL & much much more expensive. But if more space is important to you, you may want to check it out. We only book that when they have a discount on them.

You can't go wrong with either!

Have you considered the YC? All YC rooms have a balcony (except 1, if I remember correctly, that someone posted about in the past not having a balcony). As the pp mentioned, the rooms are equal in size (with the exception of the deluxe rooms). We've only stayed at the BC but have visited BWI many times and IMO, you can't go wrong with either one. But since a balcony is important, I'd go with BWI or look at the YC if SAB is important as well. Good luck.

Agreed. If pool and balcony are both important, go with YC. I've stayed at YC and it's my favorite of the resorts I've stayed in so far.

Hello!

We stayed at the BWI last year... It is a beautiful resort. The only thing I would point out from my experience since you have young children as I do is the restaurant situation. There are no restaurants accessible from inside the hotel. You must venture outside to eat. We were there in June, when it rains most days. I cannot tell you how many changes of clothes we went thru just from going to eat dinner. I hated arriving to a restaurant soaked and then sitting in the A/C freezing my buns off. I was not aware of that before we went, and would not have booked it had I known. There are many great restaurants on the BW area though! Hope that helps some.

Yep. We stayed at BWI during a November trip and it was fantastic. But I purposely booked YC for our stay this month for precisely this reason. Since you're going during a rainy time, I'd pick YC over BWI.

We have stayed at both BC and BWI. We liked BWI a bit better. We have two boys. The slide at the BWI is just as good, if not better than BC's. BWI has a roller coaster clown slide, it is fun. BC has a pirate ship slide and it is also fun but very high up and hanging over the lake. It's a bit too high but it's still fun. BWI also has shoos that your daughter's may love. I honestly like BWI better, some of the balconies are HUGE! But it's your choice! Show your daughters the resorts, see which is better.

We always choose YC/BC over BWI because of the pools. SAB is just more interesting than the clown pool for us. That may or may be a deciding factor for your family, though.

We are driving home from a 2 week stay at BC as I type. We usually stay at Boardwalk but wanted to give Beach Club a try. We liked the Beach Club but not as much a Boardwalk. We just have an 8 year old son and honestly the Beach Club pool was too much for us. There was no way I was sending my DS to the slide alone so either DH or myself had to go with him. At BW I can sit in a lounge chair and watch him walk to the top of the slide and also see him come out at the end. I also like to walk to DHS and the walk is shorter from the BW. One last difference is the lobby. At beach club it was always packed with people waiting to eat at Cape May. Honestly trying to get out of the lobby started to feel like maneuvering through the park crowds. The boardwalk lobby is much less crowded.

We've stayed at both with our 2 girls and BC is absolutely our favorite of the 2 options you listed. I think BC is more family oriented as it has a character restaurant in the lobby area, plus a store and fast food too in the lobby area.

Since you have a water view room booked, you may want to check on the BC thread as to the stats of full balconies with that type of room. There may be more full balconies available with your type booked (water view).

However, we totally enjoy the fun on the boardwalk. But it's an easy walk around the loop to get to those restaurants, etc.

My DH liked the feel of the BWI and going out on the boardwalk to get to restaurants, but the kids and I highly prefer having things on the inside. On a rainy day, it would certainly be an advantage to be at the BC over the BWI. Overall, our family enjoys the pool at BC better than at any other resort.

I agree with the poster that said try YC. You get the pool and the balcony

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am booking pool/lagoon view at YC. I took a look and I think my tomboy 11yr old will like the room decor better and the location of the kids sand/pool area is perfect for my 3yr old. Plus better views of the Boardwalk. :)
