any quiet resorts help

If the OP is used to values, they might be used to the convience of quick service which POFQ does not have. You have to go to POR. Also, with one pool at POFQ, it may be noiser than a resort with multiple pools.

True about the one pool, but it's rarely busy, but POFQ does have Quick Service, it doesn't have a Table Service resturant. That said, if you are an annual pass holder with the Tables in Wonderland card, it's accepted at POFQ, it's one of the only QS locations that takes it (because there is no TS resturant).

I thought that the tree houses had elevators now since they had to make them Handicapped accessible? Wouldn't that make them good for the MIL? And, the two 'shorter' bunks would be good for the two kids.

No elevators, they have ramps.

To the OP, of all the resorts I think SSR is the quietest. When they built it, they were still having the fireworks at DD and they put extra soundproofing in the rooms and have double pane windows. Also the open air, covered hallways are quieter than an interior hallway to me.

Honestly at times until we left the room, we did not know anyone was in our building. They have recently started a rehab of the rooms and Congress Park which has a fabulous quiet pool is finished.

Just to add my 2 cents. I'd like to recommend POFQ as well. The refurb was only a year ago, and I love the decor. I think all of the mods have a quiet feel to them, even when they're full. You can also put a request on your reservation for a 'quiet room'. This will usually be in a building at one end of the resort or the other and facing away from the courtyards. But the resort is so small, that even those buildings aren't much of a walk to the main building and the bus stop. If you feel like you need to be close to each other, you can request adjoining rooms. But if they're grumps, DON'T ask for connecting!! A ground floor room would mean your MIL wouldn't have to worry about stairs at all.

OKW has huge villas -- much larger than the others -- outdoor dining space, and a very laid back feeling. You can park right by the villa, but you should request 1st floor or an elevator building. There are boat rentals, a wonderful pool with a slide, and bike rentals. We love it. :goodvibes

probably the quietest of DVC resorts is Kidani - but that is not on your list.

Agreed! Ive stayed there twice now (in 3 weeks will be my 3rd time), and while in the room I have never heard another soul. So peaceful and quiet! Yet still a fun resort for kids, they always have games at the pool and other activities going on!:thumbsup2

The only problem with trying to select a "quiet" resort is that any resort is only as quiet as your immediate neighbors. You could have noisy neighbors at any resort. I once had a group of six adults carrying on a loud conversation in the hallway outside my room at 4am - outdoor voices and all! Or the day it was raining and a group of kids decided to play dodge ball in the hallway outside my room - continually banging into my door. I generally travel with a white noise machine so I can drown out any noise when I'm sleeping. I would agree that OKW and SSR are generally quiet, as well as VWL. I did not have any noise issues at BLT, but I was the next to the last room at the end of the hall, so I didn't get a lot of traffic outside my door. Whatever resort you choose, request a "quiet" area - this will generally be away from elevators and other common areas where people tend to congregate.

Now, as far as which resorts would be best for your party size and health concerns . . .First, which park(s) will you spend the most time in? You should pick a location closest to the park(s) where you will spend the most time. If I know I'm spending a lot of time at Epcot, I stay at one of the Epcot resorts. If I'm spending more time at MK than the other parks, I stay near MK. If you are planning to spend your time fairly equally between the parks, then the resort location isn't quite as important. Does your MIL have issues with getting on and off buses several times a day? If so, consider a resort where you have monorail or boat transportation for at least two of the parks.

I agree with all of the other posters who have suggested POFQ. I've stayed there 3 times, and have found it to be a very quiet resort. And while there is only one pool, I've never noticed it being that loud. If it is, you can always walk to POR and use their pool, as POR and POFQ are considered sister resorts pool hopping is allowed between the two.

I would suggest Kidani too, we have been there and it is very quiet. Our standard view room had a view of the one savannah and it was very peaceful to sit on the deck and watch the animals.

OKW is quiet,if you want to rent points....I also like the feel of POFQ and POR,and CBR,they are all pretty spread out which = quiet.....I agree, the values do feel noisier b/c they're more packed in....one time when we stayed at Pop, I liked the WAY back rooms near the pond...but AOA wasn't there yet,so it may not feel quiet back there anymore...plus I felt like if I had a car,and parked way back there, driving to the parks,it would be great. But only that one back corner:thumbsup2

The quietest resort we stayed at was Shades of Green. We loved staying there. My dad is a 100% disabled Vietnam Vet, so that's how we stayed there. We were also able to book two rooms (one for me, Mom and Dad and one for my aunt and cousin). None of us had any problems buying stuff at the gift shop so I don't really understand that? :confused3

I love, love, love staying at Shades of Green. It's so peaceful which IMO is hard to find at Disney! For us, it felt like the perfect combo. Also, there is a little shop at the bottom floor on the way to the busses and they will pack a lunch for you to take to the park! That is one perk I think ALL Disney resorts should have! It was so convenient and reasonably priced too!

I'm sure no matter where you pick, it will be a great trip! :goodvibes

I agree that if you want the most quiet resort you should pick Shades of Green. We booked there with connecting rooms for us and SIL and her husband. We had a pool not far from our room and never heard any noise from it. If we went to the pool we were usually the only people there. We never had a problem at the gift shop either.

I would really suggest looking into this first. If I remember correctly and it hasn't changed the amount that you pay for your room depends on the military rank. It was very reasonably priced.

I am not sure that you can qualify for free dining if it is offered during your time though if staying at Shades of Green.

If you're open to mods, I would suggest the French Quarter or Riverside. We stayed at POFQ in February and it was VERY quiet (and very beautiful!). The buses were direct routes to each park and didn't share with other resorts.....overall, we were pleasantly surprised. There was a nice boat ride from the resort to Downtown Disney - our kids enjoyed that. We're going back to Riverside in December and really looking forward to it.
Good luck with your decision!
