at WDW we often will take the raft over to Tom Sawyers Island to chill out and relax - sit in the rocking chairs and have a snack....

is there anywhere in DLR to do the same - quiet spot to sit and relax and perhaps people watch?

DL has a Tom Sawyer's island, too. There are quiet places to sit there.

There's a front porch on Main St. that has chairs. When they're empty (which is rare!) this is a great place to sit and watch people.

Another quiet place is the Hungry Bear Restaurant area on the Rivers of America (across from Splash Mtn.) You don't have to eat there to sit there.

I also like to sit on any of the benches in New Orleans Square near the river to watch people and relax--or take a ride on the Mark Twain Riverboat around the river.

It's also usually VERY quiet on the shortcut from Fantasyland over to Big Thunder Mountain. Even on the busiest days, there are rarely people there, and it's beautiful.

If you want to go inside, there's the Animation building in DCA or the beautiful lobby of the GCH.

Near the Railroad Station in New Orleans Square it is rather park like, it may or may not be busy though.

In DCA go under Silly Symphony Swings along the water. Also the Alfresco Loungs which is above the Wine Country Trattoria wine bar can be calm.

The First Aid Stations - If you need to take Medicine they will give you water. If you need to rest they will let you lay down. I wrnt to in to do an insulin shot. They have a sharps container where you can leave your needles before leaving on the Airplane!! Also you can take children there for feedings, or diaper changes.

If you take the right path headed towards the castle you will find a singing wishing well, and a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fountain that is a nice quiet spot. I also liked the seating near where the Big Thunder Mtn Railroad is. It's a nice place to sit and people watch.

Now, if I told you where I like to go and sit and relax. Then it would no longer be a quiet, vacant space to sit and relax. Muhahaha! :tink:

I love this area on the lower level... We go as far to the back as possible and watch the boats pass by.. It's soo peaceful :goodvibes

We also like this location, no matter how busy this area is very quiet except for the restrooms.

thanks - I wrote them all down - forgot to mention we will be there 12/26-30 ! probably not an empty piece of real estate anywhere that week! :santa:

Top level too - the triangular section at the north end of the upper deck - you've got the train chugging by on one side and a great view up and down the river. It's not always open though.

When we went in June, the tables out on the water behind Edelweiss Snacks were lovely. There were only 3-4 people there when we arrived and they soon left and we had the whole place to ourselves to sit and relax and watch the little ducklings swimming. It was the most quiet and refreshing spot we found. Not sure how it will be when you're there though. We might have just happened upon a rare, quiet moment :goodvibes

Whitewater Snacks at the CGH is a quiet place to eat lunch. Even on busy days, it quiet and uncrowded. Although it is in the hotel, it is a short walk from DCA using the entrance by the river ride.

There is also a nice spot behind the Parade viewing area by IASW. It's a pavilion with 4-5 tables that juts out into the Submarine lagoon. Describing the location is not easy (thus it's quietness), but it's behind a building (not cart) that sells Turkey Legs at the point where the path from Tomorrowland meets the path to IASW by the Matterhorn.

Of course the only reason I'll tell you this is that you wont be there at the same time as we are.

The Harbor Galley, a small restaurant on the border of Critter Country and Orleans Square, is always nice and quiet. The salads are quite good, too.

That's the old Motor Boat Cruise loading dock.
