I used TaxCut last year because of reported spyware on the 2002 TurboTax. Has that "problem" been fixed in the 2003 version?

I wish I could use it but it is not compatable with my job. There is a spot where they want the amount you paid into social security on there and railroad workers don't pay into social security, we have our own plan which is much better, so I have to pay someone to do it.

I used it last year, Home and Business, and the previous 5 or so years. No problems last year, as in previous years. The piracy file is not in the 2003 version. I have it installed and have worked a bit with it already, all is fine.

aprilgail2, there are questions that walk you through if employed by RR.

We've used it for quite a few years now with no problems. DH loves it.

It wasn't "spyware" that was in last years turbotax, it was an authentication scheme called c-dilla that could, and did, screw up people's computers to the point where they had to be reloaded!!!Even if it wasn't that bad it used some of your computers resources even when you weren't in the program.
Turbotax lost a lot of sales and faced an ocean of complaints and they decided this was a really really bad idea. So they put a nice spin on it and :

An Open Letter To TurboTax Customers

In response to feedback from our customers, I want you to know that we're making an important change to TurboTax software and have removed activation technology.

The new TurboTax for 2003 coming later this year can be used fully on multiple computers.

Last year, some TurboTax customers were inconvenienced as a result of being prevented from using the software on multiple computers. While many of you had no problem, some of you did. And that's what concerns me most.

I want to personally apologize for any frustration you may have experienced due to the restrictions that came with our use of anti-piracy technology. I've talked one-on-one with quite a few customers, so I know this caused some of you considerable hassle and inconvenience.

You told us that you want the flexibility to install and use TurboTax on multiple computers, and we heard you, loud and clear. We responded back in May by committing to remove the technology from TurboTax for 2003 and now, we've expanded our license agreement so you can use TurboTax fully on multiple computers to do returns for yourself and members of your household. We've also made it possible for you to use your current 2002 version of TurboTax fully on multiple computers.

But that's not all. We're making the things you value most about TurboTax even better. The new TurboTax will give you even more confidence that your return is accurate and complete. We will help you get the most from your deductions. And the new TurboTax will thoroughly handle any changes going on in your life that affect your taxes.

Let me assure you that we are working harder than ever to earn your confidence and trust. This is, and always will be, of the utmost importance to us.

Sincerely,

Tom Allanson, General Manager

Last year I got the deluxe home and business (I do my dad's taxes, he works for himself), and installed it on my brand new computer. My brand new computer crashed and I had to get a new computer. I also had to get a brand new program because I was told by Turbo Tax support there wasn't anything they could do. I figured if I need to get a new program, I'm going to get something else. Used TurboTax for close to a decade (back when it was Parsons), will not go back to using it because of last year.

Although Intuit claims to have cleaned up their act, there are literally thousands of former customers who will most likely be boycotting any of their products for a very long time. I'm still on the fence in regards to purchasing TurboTax this year.

I didn't have any problems last year, so I'll be using it again this year for all the taxes I prepare (something like 6 in all).

I only use it on one computer so that doesn't concern me, but installing a product that I can not remove that eats resources does.

I swapped to Tax Cut last year and haven't decided which I will use this year. For my purposes, the programs work the same.

I guess it depends on which will give the free state version or electronic filing rebate..

I've run through the interview on the 2003 Turbo Tax a couple of times. It doesn't appear to install the Cdilla program on the computer. I do have another slight issue with it however, I can't find where in the interview it asks if there was a 2003 advance Child Tax check received. -- you know that $400 per kid most people got last summer?

I found where you can open the form and put it in manually, but I don't see where it asks in the interview.
