Any problems flying July 4?

Is July 4th a heavy travel day? I really don't want to be traveling that day, b/c I love the activities, but it is looking like we will have to. It will be 1000.00 cheaper to fly that day.

Any other issues flying on July 4th?

I can't think of any issues other than it is a Saturday this year and Saturdays are pretty busy (from our experiences anyway). 7/3 will be an observed holiday (day off) for many folks this year because 7/4 falls on a Saturday. If you can save the extra $$$, I would not hesitate. Typically, holidays are low-travel days.

I have flown on the 4th and have had no problems.

Thanks for the replies. I think we are going back to our originial dates. DH really didn't want to fly on the 4th either.

There's a reason traveling ON a holiday costs less: people don't want to travel then! I would sure fly on July 4th to save $1000!

Normally, that would be my thinking as well, but this is a special situation where cost isn't so much of a factor now.

i try to schedule flights back home from June trips on July 4th. The flights never full always smooth sailing, don't think we've flown on a Saturday one before though

btw, Southwest didn't schedule afternoon flights out of Seattle due to the holiday this year (i called, the response was they try to give their employees some down time too on holidays), so I had to go with AirTran. Surprised the airfare on 7/4 was way cheaper than that of 7/3 & 7/5 on that route.
