Any probelms with the Alamo code being rejected?

Good for you. I think I'll do the same thing and cancel with Alamo. Why bother with Alamo when there are other more consumer friendly companies out there? Even if they never gave me a hard time personally I can't see risking them messing with my perfect mood. I didn't even know this stuff was going on so I'm glad I happened across the post... ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure especially where my family fun time is concerned. They just lost $300.
Try Avis with code "K199060" from the Orlando Convention and Visitor's Bureau: http://www.orlandoinfo.com/transportation/splash.cfm?partnerid=735

Sorry - this code is NOT being honored. if you have the code on your reservation, even if you check in online in advance, you will not be able to use the kiosk. once you are at the counter, they ask for your verification i.e., proper id.
We were at MCO last month. HTH.

Just wondering why would the agencies be doing better by not renting out a car. I would think making something off a rental would be better than getting nothing by letting cars sit on the lot.

Because the MILES you put on a car depreciate it and reduce it's resale value to the agency?

(And if you have to ask a question on your "code", why? :confused3 :rotfl:)

Since you are jumping to conclusions and assuming I am using one of these bogus codes, FYI, I'm not using any of these codes, I'm using one that I am entitled to use. I just wanted to know why the agencies would not want to make any money.

Obviously the rental agencies want to make money. Restricting discounts to customers who qualify for the targeted discounts is one way to increase revenue. Requiring a credit card guarantee for some vehicles reduces the issues with customers who don't show and agencies having to project how much overbooking is appropriate. The re-sale value of a car depends on mileage. An agency is better off letting a car sit on the lot rather then rent it out at a low rate. Rental rates in Florida, and MCO specifically, are dramatically lower then rates in the rest of the country. I was considering renting a car as an alternative to cruise tour in Alaska. A rental car would cost more then $1000 with taxes and fees (without any extra insurance). Alaska has dramatically different costs, and a shorter season, then Florida.

It may well be more profitable to have a smaller fleet, and rent to fewer people at higher prices.

I was not responding to you on that since you didn't ask on a code. IT was kind of a general obser

The other reason they don't want to rent at "any price" however is that your "cash" could be less then the fixed cost of renting the car. That means that they have to PAY folks to clean the car, maintenace the car etc. If they can't make money then it may not make sense to rent.

It's kind of like the airlines, for reasons NO ONE but them understands they continue to sell for LESS then cost and then whine "we are losing money" GEE, what a shock? I think that the rental car companies are trying to avid that.

Thanks for clarifying.

You can just page through this (Transportation) forum on your own, and look for threads with titles that indicate a code was denied.

From what I've been able to figure out from reading these boards and others the 211220 code is for residents of Puerto Rico.

This code worked for me back in Feb. But on my recent trip I was asked for a Puerto Rico drivers license. She didn't give a hoot about an email I received from Alamo saying it was OK to use it.

I have a backup reservation with the other code mentioned here which was the same price and insurance, no free second driver, and she had no problem with it. She was very nice and did everything she could to get us the lowest rate. (I also had another res. with another company just in case.)

I haven't seen anyone who was denied using the 7011111 code, only the 211220 code

I tried the kiosk first with the 7011111 code and was told to check in through an agent. The woman read through every detail on her computer screen, and she said the only difference between the codes was a second driver fee of $10 a day. She was not too eager to add it though, and told us that if needed it we could always add it anytime during our stay from any Alamo location.

Thanks for this info!! :thumbsup2 Also I did not know that you could ADD a second driver After you already had the car!! Joan

Has anyone used the online check in and went right to the garage with these codes?

I read that you can check in and pay and bypass the counter. Even if I do not use a code I think this is a great time saver!:goodvibes

Anyone know if this can be done???? :goodvibes

I usually don't take the bait from entitled people like you, but are you serious? You are going to "punish" a company who is trying to stop people from using discounts that they are not entitled to? The people who are using the discounts are driving up the prices for people who are honest enough to make a reservation with a code that they are entitled to. (And I honestly don't care if they do, I just find your attitude completely dubious and infuriating). Your argument that you made a "contract" with them is flimsy at best, and completely laughable and illogical, seeing as how when you enter into a contract you do so with good faith that one of those people is not trying to cheat you. Would you stop shopping at Target, Walmart, etc if you heard they were trying to stop shoplifters from stealing from them, or would you "punish" them and stop shopping there too?

I posted this on another thread but thought it might be of interest here as well.:goodvibes

I tried to apply the 701111 code and was given the message

"The entered Corporate ID, Association ID, or Contract ID is invalid"

When I attempted to utilize it again I was given this message

"Alamo is currently sold out at location you requested, click below to check availability at our related websites"

Now Alamo is not sold out as I always check the price without any code applied first.......

Something is up with this code
