Hello! We just visited PortAventura this past summer for the first time in July. We are a Disney family (not sure if you live in the UK or posting in this board due to the location questions!) and live about 1.5 hrs from WDW in FL. Been to
Disneyland CA and Disneyland Paris as well. We visit other amusement parks in the US. We have Busch Gardens here at home and have been to Kings Island and Cedar Point in OH, and various others across the US! I would liken PortAventura to those other parks. They have some great roller coasters my teens particularly loved but seems like rides were added in different spaces haphazardly. It does not have the theming and beauty of a Disney but again, it is a different type of park. We briefly went to Ferrari land next to it- not a lot of rides there. It was a super easy train ride from Barcelona - about an hour. I would think 4 nights there would be a long time but again, everyone's idea of a vacation is different. We rode rides multiple times and felt one day was plenty. Happy to answer any questions!
we're americans, but have lived overseas for many years.
Originally from Detroit, so definitely familiar with Cedar Point (which was a fantastic park back when my kids were little, don't know about today). We used to always do two days in Cedar Point if that tells you anything. We would drive from detroit and stay for 2 nights. Always a great time!!
We usually do WDW every summer, but we've decided to put off the Orlando trip to 2026 after the opening craziness at
Epic Universe has died down a bit.
So for 2025, we won't be crossing the pond.
I have an onsite hotel booked at PortAventura that includes length of stay unlimited express pass so that should help with the crazy August crowds and intense heat (all of Europe goes on vacation in August and it's nutty everywhere!!!!!!)
Our grandkids are 10, 9, 7 and 20 months old.
So we'll be on mostly the family friendly rides though i'm sure my son will go for the big coasters.
4 nights effectively means 2 days in the parks, since we arrive late in the evening of the first day and leave early in the morning on the last day to get to the port in Barcelona.
With the little kids, i'm guessing we'll be in the sesame street area part of the time. And probably all the water rides as well.
I'm not sure if there's anything for the 20 month old to do, but there's always the pool at the hotel for her.
I have time to figure it out.
