Has anyone purchased and actually used the Route 66 Extended warranty offered by a lot of credit unions for autos? Do they pay as expected, or deny everything? Have your mechanics complained or praised them?

I don't know about them, but with GEICO I get Mechanical Breakdown Insurance for $35 per six months. This will cover any non-warranty repairs with a $250 deductible no matter where it happens. Obviously things like routine servicings and brakes are not included. It must be purchased when the car is new and not allowed to lapse.

Since I tend to keep cars about ten years and 180,000 miles it is definitely worth it for me.

The Geico sounds like a good plan, but won't work in my scenario.

Has anyone had Route 66?

Google them. You'll find comments from real customers.

Not sure why anyone buys extended warranties these days. They'd be out of business if they didn't know that in almost every instance they were going to pay out less than the cost of the warranty.
