Any pattern for when people cancel bookings?

I've got a booking coming up in April. Obviously a busy time at the parks but am looking to see if we can make a small adjustment to our booking. Problem is that so far, there's no availability. Is there a "rule of thumb" as to when availability may open up? Am thinking maybe around the 30 day mark, as that would allow points to be returned to the current use year???

I think you are right, 45-31 days out people cancel, depends on the room though as high demand rooms might already have waitlists to pick up these room changes.
