Wondering if anyone has seen the new Les Mis production or is planning to see it?

We saw it on Friday night and I think I am still shaking! It was so powerful, and so amazing.

I loved Ramin Karimloo as Valjean.

Just wondered if anyone else here could swoon with me? :goodvibes

I would love to see it. I saw the production back in the early 90's when I was in high school, but couldn't follow what was happening. I just watched the movie last weekend, so I'd really love to see it again now that I really know the story and what's going on. I cried like a baby during the movie! I had no idea it was such a sad story.

I would love to see it and we've discussed going but we're 4 hours away from Toronto and have no overnight options for the kids. It's our 15th Anniversary in a couple of weeks and it would be a perfect way to celebrate and the way you describe it makes me want to see it even more.

My daughter was at the show Friday night as well and feels the same about the whole experience. We have tickets for the closing show in December. I'm looking forward to it.

:cool1::cool1:

We have tickets for early November. Can't wait to see it:dance3:

I really want to see it (went 8 times in the early 90's!! - Loved it that much!) and am just waiting for a friend to find a date that's open for her too. Hope we don't miss it as it seems like the tickets are going fast!

I'm hoping to see it but just have one question how does Ramin Karimloo compared to Col Wilkinson or Michael Burgus as Jean Val Jaen?

Great question! Yes, Ramin Karimloo has some big shoes to fill there doesn't he?? I can honestly say that he was just amazing as Valjean. If there is a doubt in anyone's mind I dare them to still have doubts after Bring Him Home. I mean, seriously? The girl beside me kept saying "Oh my god, Oh my GOD" as he was singing it. My husband turned to me after that song and said "Well, Holy Crap." lol. The audience went absolutely wild.

We have been blessed with another awesome Valjean, don't worry he is in safe hands with Ramin lol.

...and we have purchased seats for another show in December so will be going again. I can't wait!!!!!!! *early Christmas* :cheer2:

Wheee!!! Going tonight!! Just booked it yesterday with a friend and we were able to get 10th row, slightly off centre! SO excited!!!

It was outstanding!!! I've never been to a show ehh re the entire theatre jumped to their feet the moment the first people stepped on stage for curtain call but that's exactly what happened!!

I had not seen this version with the new sets and lighting but it is really well done! You can see how technology has improved things. All the music was amazing and the soloists exceptional!!! I don't think I breathed during , 'Bring Him Home'!!

The one teeny, tiny negative to me was that they've brought some of the Thenardier's scenes more into the 21st century standard including a full guy/guy kiss that I just didn't need to see. Just not my style and personally felt it wasn't necessary. The Thenardier's themselves were great though!! Madame Thenardier is the 'Start the car! Lady from the Ikea commercial.

If you have an opportunity to go see Les Mis I would highly recommend it!!

Okay first of all, regarding the guy on guy kiss - your seats were clearly way better than mine because I did not notice that at all, lol. (I was up in the Dress Circle. But in December I will be front row, baby!) But yeah, that's different!

I had no idea she was the Start the Car lady. :lmao:

I do like the new version too, though there were times I did miss the old revolving stage. Especially during the Barricade death scenes...oh well, there's Ramin Karimloo, ha ha.

:thumbsup2

I'd say the one thing I missed too was the revolving stage. I saw the original version 7 or 8 times so knew it well. It took some getting used to the revolving stage missing but still enjoyed it greatly!

The unfortunate kiss thing happened during the wedding scene with Mr. Thenardier. That and part of the bar scene went beyond my comfort level but all in all it was outstanding and if they extend the run (I hope they do!!) then I hope to go back with a friend.

Enjoy it when you go back!!

I have to say I laughed at the 21st century standard as part of this explanation as it was happening for centuries and centuries. ;)

No rush tickets?

I see there is a facebook page asking for them, so I guess not.

I don't think Mirvish does rush tickets for any shows. The only exception they made was for RENT as it was a request by the producers of the show that the first few rows be sold day of and the money went to charity.

Also I'm going to see it on Tuesday, can't wait to see it.

Please report back after you see it. I have to live through everyone else until I get to see it again, lol.

In case anyone hadn't heard, Ramin Karimloo has been selected to play Valjean on Broadway starting in March! :cool1: How awesome for him.

Road trip! :drive:

Just saw it a few hours ago and it was amazing. The only thing I really missed from the classic version is the barricade. It just adds something to the show seeing the two massive set species fold together and rotate on the turntable. Other then that everything was great.

As foir the gay kiss I did notice it but it was done in jest as part of Thénardier's charter of providing comic relief in the show. If you haven't seen it comes during the wedding scene as part of the song called Beggars at the feast. It tales place after he sings "there goes a prince, there goes a Jew, this ones' a queer but what can you do?"

Is there any chance of this being extended beyond December 22? The Mirvish website just indicates "now playing" where other productions such as Aladdin show the end date (January 5). I'd think they could do a good business over the holidays if it was still playing!

Mississaugamom, yes!! It has just been extended to February 2, 2014. :cool1:
