I was sooo excited to get a THV ressie for October. DSs are thrilled! But after reading all the possible issues with transportation, I'm really nervous and thinking of swapping resorts. I've not even checked to see if it's possible, but I'm driving myself nuts here trying to figure it out. (ok, more nuts than usual)

Anyone have any inside info on how the buses will really run? I keep thinking it's Disney--they wouldn't leave it a mess....or would they??:confused3

I'm not too worried as we've had very good bus service at SSR in the past. That said, we don't travel during peak times so I'm sure that makes a difference. I would at least give it a try and see how it goes.

In my experience, anything new, even at Disney, has problems for several months.

We will never book at a new resort and let them practice on our family. We would prefer to wait until everything is finished, the Cast Members get trained, and the bugs are worked out.

I'm not nervous, but we drive ourselves for the most part in WDW. ;) I do think that those who have no vehicle of their own might want to think twice about staying there, at least in the beginning when no one really knows what the transportation will be like. Good luck :goodvibes

I wouldn't be nervous but wouldn't do THV without a car. The buses will add an extra step to anything past SSR with the corresponding extra risk of additional wait time. So if I were in your situation I'd either try to change or rent a car, YMMV.

Hey, pennst8r! We're booked for THV in November, after we complete the 7-night Halloween sailing of the Magic and Halloween in WDW.

We have no rental car this trip. We also know about the busses that run between from THV and SSR. Apparently SSR's busses have been running better than ever this year. We hope the THV busses are the same.

Even if that is the case, we expect that the bussing around at THV is going to be more time consuming than staying at SSR or another DVC resort. If I were you, I'd allow for this or change to another resort.

I am not nervous...we will no doubt be renting a car. We are going in January. How about you wait to see how people feel after they start stay there in June...if it is terrible with the transportation, maybe consider getting a car. I 'd rather do that then change my reservation...we are SOOOOO excited to be trying the treehouses. Something new is always a plus in my book.:thumbsup2

Thanks, everyone! I'm not sure why I"m stressing so much over this one! I feel like I did when we used our DVC for the very first time. Maybe just the unknown. Since we're not there til Oct, I'll get to read all the info from those before us. Some of the posts about them just got me a bit nervous.

I think the loop the THV buses have to travel will be small, so I'm hoping they won't add too much time. And if they do, the kids will be occupied catching those little lizards! They looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if I should try to get another resort. Guess I just need to relax! :drinking1

you are a DVC member. I assume this means you will be going more than a once in a lifetime trip to Disney. hat said, I wouldn;t worry about it..so the bus takes an extra half hour or has some kinks in the system. Just relax and go with the flow.
or if you find the first day too many problems, just go to DtD and grab a bus from there or go up to OKW via the boat and take a bus from there..that is a pretty enjoyable solution anyway with the boat ride :lovestruc

I was really considering changing my Nov. res. but my niece and nephew really want to stay in the treehouses. We are planning alot of down time as my DB doesn't love the parks(What?) and we will have a car for most of the trip (planning to return it 2 days early at Buena Vista Palace) I am just going to go with the flow!!!!! (a sometimes fairly difficult thing for me to do) LOL.

Too excited to be worried!!:cool1: We have 2 weeks over Christmas break booked and my family is ecstatic.

Sometimes reading threads is like watching the news. The news is predicting gloom and doom all over and in the meantime, WDW is packed!! this spring break.

Everybody that relies on Disney transportation is going to be inconvenienced at 1 time or another.

We walked over there last Christmas and they are not that isolated or far. There will be plenty of options.

The walk from THV to GS bus stop will be about the same as staying at BWV and getting off the bus at SD and walking over.

you're right. I should stop reading! My kids aren't toddlers who can't bear to wait. Just some posts make it seem like you're doomed to drag your bags miles..in the rain..up hill...etc. I talked to a CM the other day and realized it's Disney! It will all work out--and any big issues they have at the start will be fixed by October.:goodvibes We probably walked further to get to our room at AKV last year!

I wouldn't be too worried. Just remember, just like in life, these boards tend to report mostly the frustrations and little attention gets paid to the postive experiences.

There will certainly be initial 'bugs' that need to be worked out. I read that there will be a shuttle that goes back and forth from the Springs. Then you would hop the bus to get to where you are going. This may sound time-consuming but I'm not sure how that's different from hopping a bus at BWV or BCV and then stopping at all various resorts in between before you actually get on the road.

Each resort has it's transportation frustrations, SSR is working much better recently.
