Any other passholders annoyed at rumors of possible 60 day blackouts for new attactions?

Ok--- so if you can only have one band active, it would be the same one on both accounts. I wasn't suggesting anything about a second account, but only to allow one band active at any given time. The band has a specific number. Once one is activated, remove the availability of other numbered bands to be active. Still not hard.
You need t read the other threads about this because you don't seem to understand the complexity of the issue.

I saw a blog post in the Orlando Weekly by Ken Storey discussing what Disney is doing in anticipation of the opening of Star Wars land. He said: "They're already expanding the parking lot in anticipation of the large crowds the new land will draw, and have been toying with the idea of blocking annual pass holders from accessing the new land when it first opens."
What are your thought about this turn of events?!?

I would no long be an annual passholder if they started blocking events / access. I only travel to wdw twice a year so the AP does save me a little $$ but not a ton.

AP and DVC are some of WDW's most loyal guests. It would be a huge insult to limit their access. If nothing - they should have first access.

This has been discussed for a while, and the y have done some surveying about it. The surveys seem to indicate that it would be for some of the lower level Florida resident passes that already have blackout dates.

I don't have an AP and have no intention of getting one. That said, I doubt anyone would agree with me, but I would have no issue with a soft opening for DVC and AP holders only.
A bonus for loyalty, while working the kinks out -we know there are a lot at the beginning - then maybe some weeks for onsite guests only.
Disney keeps taking away while raising prices. Sure there will be the "I can only go during this time, so it isn't fair to me", but it would be a perk and would spread out the opening crowds a bit.
OK, start yelling at me

I am not AP nor DVC and I agree with you. I think there should be some "perks" for spending so much money at DW.

We were AP holders when they did the AP previews for new fantasyland. I am hoping they do something similar when Avatar opens, but I'm not sure they will, given the fact that they are looking to bar access to Seasonal passholders. I am thinking it's going to be a pay event, more money for them.

we are FL resident passholders, weekday only with blackout dates. Its horrible to hear we might be blocked from going to new things. AP are the LAST ones who should be blocked. Very big bummer and I hop this isnt the case.

Yes,they can't block a 365/366 day Annual Pass under current terms if something is "officially" open to Guests.

Long gone are the days of passholder exclusive previews (friends of the family went to the opening of dinoland at ak back in the day)

Imho I could see two different sinarios

best case just opening new lands in the summer when silver and maybe more low tiers are blacked out and unlike with this summer ( with frozen and everything else) NOT offering an upgrade to gold

worst case giving passholders an additional month long blackout for whatever park has the new land opening

Yeah .................... source .....................

It was a survey. A vague survey. Gotten many surveys on things that NEVER came to pass.

It could have implied a whole new AP with these restraints and looking for interest. No one knows.

RUMOR, obviously Ken had nothing to talk about .................... since the article was old news mixed with much ado about nothing.

I'm reserving my anger until the actual list of passes comes out. I can think of many people that would benefit from a lower cost live far enough away that a blockout on a new thing isn't in the way of how they visit the parks.. What if the price doesn't change for someone that is willing to take the blockout of attractions and they don't come that close to something opening... Also what is the blockout? are we talking you can't come to food and wine for the first 60 days (that would suck) or are we talking you need to wait 60 days to get into pandora? maybe it's 60 days for attractions and 2 weeks for other things.. Now if they run out of free things like prints and tumblers before I get to go, that's not cool of them...

This might actually allow me to keep a better pass when I have to renew next year if they have an interesting structure where I can save some money but take a small blockout hit..

There is so many ways this could go, including many good ways...

NOw if these new "passholder benefits" means surprise, we're not making enough money non-blockout attraction dates then shame on disney...
I agree, I will save my anger too until I see it. If they offered a cheaper AP with blackouts, I'd do it. We are AP and live in OH, so we are only getting there 2-3 times and honestly try and avoid peak times ( so I probably wouldn't go within 60 days anyways).

So Disney doesn't appreciate the AP holder/ local that much because they don't spend the amount of money they want in the parks?

And this is why they are doing this?

Well that is total BS! What if an AP holder were to book a one night stay at a resort, or campground?
A lot do. Its just how they look at things. Disney loves the once in a lifetime visitor more than the AP holder. They know they have gotten the AP holder hooked and that AP holder is more likely going to spend less in the parks in merchandise and food. Once in a lifetime visitors are going to buy the dining plan, buy the mickey ears with custom stitching, buy the dessert party, etc.
