Just went online and checked out my reservation for the Aug 20 repo cruise. I have finally changed from gty to7119. Anybody else get thier stateroom assigned?
We still have GTY as well. I really hope we're upgraded, though with so many onthe cruise who bought early, it seems unlikely. I'll just be ecstatic to be on the cruise at all! We had a CAT 11 last time we went and it was great! This time, we're booked into a CAT 12 GTY, and we booked on the day reservations opened.
no room numbers for us yet I hope that we get them soon since my OCPD has kicked in a full force (obsessive compulsive planning disorder) and I MUST know! I guess I should just be thankful that we got 2 cabins with verandas (cat 4 and 5)
We're sailing 7/9 and got our cabin assignment last week. We booked a category 6 guarantee and got just that, a cat 6. We got a midship location, so that's nice, 6556.
I've been checking regularly but I figured I was to far out. we've got a gty on the Aug.20 repo cruise no stateroom number yet. My parents will be going with us on the June 25 mexico cruise and they just got their stateroom number. I'll just have to be patient.[something I'm not very good at]
Thanks for starting this thread! We're on the August 6th Mexican cruise, and you inspired me to check back on the DCL web site, and sure enough, we had been assigned a cabin.
Hi. After reading the threads I think GTY refers to Guarantee. Is that correct? If so, what are the advantages to booking that way versus asking for a room number when you make your reservations? Thanks for your help.

Yes, "GTY" as used here is referring to guaranteed stateroom category. Meaning if you booked a GTY cat. 6 then you will get at least a cat 6 stateroom or better. You just don't know what stateroom exactly.
Some folks think booking a GTY stateroom is good in that they may be assigned a category better than what they booked for when the assignment is finally made.

A GTY is a guarantee that you'll receive at least the category cabin you booked. DCL doesn't allow people to book GTY status unless a certain category is almost sold out, unlike other lines. Some of the other lines, will allow you to gamble with the GTY to get the free upgrade, DCL won't since they almost almost always sail full.
