I have found my television set permanently set to Food Network lately and have been trying out a bunch of recipes from the shows...my favorite so far being the Chicken Marsala recipe from Emeril (even thought Rachel Rays mexican lasagna was easy, yummy, and also a big hit in the house!)

Anyone else with me on this weird obsession with Food Network, if so what are your fave shows...which are your least favorite??

my sister has even started calling me a food geek (even tho i call her a mac -nerd) lol

Yeah - I love to cook and I've gotten a lot of great tips and recipes from the Food Network. I love Barefoot Contessa, she has a motherly way about her and her recipes are fantastic. I like Emeril's recipes - they always come out great - but I don't like watching him. Rachel Ray just irks me - plus the recipes she cooks aren't to my taste. The chick with the spiky white hair - and the guy with the spiky white hair - annoy the crap out of me!

Im not a fan of the girl with spikey hair but I do like Guy Fieri (the guy with spikes,,and i THINK that is how his last name is spelled)

I like Giadda but I hate her as well...she is so gorgeous its sickening lol!

Rachel Ray is kind of annoying to watch but her recipe's are easy and since I do the cooking to help out my mom all the littles in the house tend to like her style...lol

I watch shows from time to time but the DVR records every episode of Good Eats.

Giada give a whole new meaning to food porn.

I am a huge fan of the Food Network. I have learned a lot over the years and I just love watching people cook. My favorite is Ina Garten ("The Barefoot Contessa"). I think Ina is a great teacher, loves her life and makes fantastic food. Her recipes are delicious. I can only take Rachael Ray in small doses, but she does have some good recipes. I enjoy the "Food Network Challenge" competitions and "Iron Chef America."

I can always find something interesting on the Food Network. Between that and HGTV, I watch way too much television.

Edited to add: I cannot stand the Neely's. So annoying.

The Neelys get on my nerves too..."can you hand me that daddy?" lol.. out where I live HGTV and FoodNetwork are channels 70 and 71 so I flip back and forth constantly....

I love Food Network. We got digital tv so I could watch it! :lmao: I love Giada and the Neeley's. They are just too adorable!! Paula is sometimes too fake with her southern drawl, but I love to cook out of her cookbooks and I have her copper bottom pots that are to die for! I also love Good Eats, Iron Chef American, Unwrapped, etc. I don't like Emeril's show (I don't need a band to be cooking), the female with the short dark hair ( I can't even remember her name), Sandra Lee ( everything is just way too "nice" on her show!:rolleyes1) and Rachel Ray's voice is like scratching a chalk board! :headache: Not to mention, I already know her grandpa used nutmeg in everything and not every dish needs olives!!

:rotfl: I LOVE the Food Network. I even really, really like their magazine (I didn't think I would; I have tried quite a lot of recipes from the magazine). I just made Tyler Florence's scalloped potatoes last night for dinner :thumbsup2. There's a few shows I don't care for, like any of the cake challenge shows or Ace of Cakes, or the girl with the spiky hair (Ann Burell[sp?]). I do like Guy but my favorite shows are anything with Giada (I don't mind all of the cleavage shots if I get good recipes  [although she says perfect A LOT but anything's better than having to hear one more of Rachel Rays' EVOO ]), Good Eats, Barefoot Contessa, and Diner's Drive In's and Dives. Quick Fix Meals with Robin Miller is also a favorite (being single it's nice to be able to have a few ingredients and be able to make different meals with them all week). Paula seems to develop a heavier southern accent over the years and says "y'all" A LOT more than she did when she started on Food Network. I don't know something is just starting to seem fake about her. Ok, maybe I watch TOO much Food Network :).

I wouldn't say I'm a Food Network Fanatic but I enjoy some of the shows. My favorite is Barefoot Contessa- I love her. I also watch Unwrapped, The Secret Life of... (even though the host annoys me) and Food Network Challange mostly when they make cakes they are almost works of art and then sometimes they fall apart while being moved!

We thank god for, as we call it Food Porn Network. I seriously don't think DS15 would have ventured to try anything if it hadn't been for him watching these shows with me.

For the longest time, he would watch and make comments about this or that looking good or why don't you make that. I always told him, I would if you would eat it. Finally told him if he was going to go on and on about how good that looked, to pick out something different, and we'd make it. He did and he loved it. Six months later and the kid is eating stuff I didn't think he ever would.

There are times, when we think he's in his room playing on the 360, when he is actually watching FN.

As long as DH isn't in the room - My TV is on the Food Network.

Seriously tho - its educational - I've learned so many culinary techniques and terms - people are like "Where'd you learn that" or "How'd you know that" and it's something I learned on FN. :rotfl:

I love that station (usually leave it on for my pups to watch while I'm at work :rolleyes1 ). As much as she gets on my nerves, Rachael Ray has some great and easy recipes! And Paula Deen's stuff is good (although not recommended when trying to diet). Giada is great, although her accent drives me nuts at times (spaGHETti?). And Ina is fun to watch! She uses wwwaaayyy too much salt! :crazy2:

We have the cheapest Dish Network satellite plan, so very few channels. I watch Food Network ALL THE TIME!

My favorite show is Chopped, and I also like Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. I like watching the challenges too. We watch Iron Chef America a lot too.

I tend to make a lot of Rachael Ray's recipes because they are easy with fairly normal ingredients. I like to watch Paula Deen, but I can't bring myself to cook like that....too much fat!! I often LOL when I watch Paula's Party (or whatever that is called). She seems to be quite funny! I also enjoy watching Barefoot Contessa, but her recipes seem a bit more involved than what I'm willing to do most nights! I love how she cooks for Jeffrey! They seem so "real"!!

ETA: Spiky hair girl drives me CRAZY. Can't stand listening to her! Not a fan of the Neely's (give me some sugar...UGH), and Sandra Lee is annoying (and a drink for Aunt Sandy....UGH). I am not a big fan of Giada's either, but mainly because of her pronunciations of words, like Parmigano Regiano (sp?). She probably says them 100% correctly, but it sounds so un-natural to me, and kind of grates on my nerves!!

I love Food Network!!! Diners Drive ins and Dives is the best!!! Unfortunately we got rid of our cable for now since we have a newborn and aren't watching much tv :sad1:

I cook most of Melissa D'Arabian's dishes and they are wonderful. I learn a lot from her shows, "Ten Dollar dinners" Sundays at 12:30pm and Saturdays at 9:30am.

love to watch Paula and some others also. Do not like the Neely's.

LOVE food network! I love Triple D!

I also love Rachael Ray and Ina Garten(barefoot contessa). I also really liked Michael Chiarello, but I think his show is off now.

It seems I always have that channel on when I'm home!

I LOVE the Food Network. Some of my favorites are Iron Chef, Good Eats, FN Challenge, Diner, Drive-ins and Dives, Giada and Dinner Impossible. I like the Barefoot Contessa, but some of the stuff that she makes too complicated and expensive to make. I will sometimes watch Paula, but there are very few things that she makes that I would try, mostly bc I just about everything she makes has mayo in it and I cannot stand mayo.

I get the FN magazines and Rachel Ray's magazine and have several of cookbooks by Giada and Rachel.

I cannot stand the Neely's, I just find them so annoying. I sometimes just want to shout at the TV, "Good Lord, go get a room!"

ETA - did anyone see that the FN Challenge has a new host, Clare Robinson, I find her a little annoying as well

I have been watching cooking shows for 25 years-way before the Food Network. I used to love the Frugal Gourmet, and found that I enjoy watching people cook. Since I have been watching the Food Network, my interests have become a little more fine tuned, if not downright disturbing. I used to love to watch people cook, but now I am finding that I am drawn more to the shows of people EATING! Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Giada's Weekends, any kind of judging show like Iron Chef or Chopped-I like watching them eat the food more than seeing it cooked! I think the worst has to be the "Best food I Ever Ate" series. That comes on and I am glued to the set, watching these chefs taste, savor, and go on and on about their favorite foods. It is very bizarre to me. But I can't help it.

The voices of Ina Garten and Rachel Ray both send chills up my spine. The former whispers like she is sneaking up on someone, and the latter is like nails on a blackboard.

I have the FN on a lot too. Hmmmmmm. Must not have enough to keep me busy during the day, right???

Anyway, I like to watch the FN Challenge no matter what they're making just to see the fantastic cakes or whatever. I also like the Iron Chef contests.

Can't stand Giada's smile anymore. Can she ever speak without that huge grin??? Paula Deen used to annoy me but then I realized it was the accent that was the problem. Now I love her shows! I also like the What's the Favorite Thing you've ever eaten series. I so much want the recipe for the donut muffins!
