Any other fans of Ramada Maingate?

I have to say that we are big fans of Ramada Maingate. We have tried every single and I mean every single hotel/motel across from Disneyland and we just love the Ramada Maingate. They have recently refurbished their rooms and have flat screen tvs, big rooms with jacuzzi baths, a pretty good free cont breakfast by the pool. Im pretty picky and I am really impressed by how much attention they give to maintaining the grounds. I notice maintenance cleaning and painting etc... every day. Any other fans?

I'm not sure I would use the word "fan", but I have stayed there, had no problems, and would stay there again. I have a few hotels on Harbor that I research prior to trips and I'll usually just end up at the one with the best price at the time. Ramada Inn Maingate is one of those that I look at each time.

We just stayed there in July. I noticed the same things about painting and cleaning. We found it to be great. The breakfast for us was not a great thing wasn't impressed. we don't really eat donuts and they seemed to have those a lot. They only had bagels a couple of times. We don't eat biscuits and gravy so we were left with toast or cereal. I mean it is considered free but I wouldn't stay there for the breakfast. The place was clean and I saw carpet shampooing going on too. We enjoyed the pool. Location was nice and the little store there and being able to buy tickets there for other stuff and the ART was handy. I would recommend it to others and stay there again myself. The rooms were a really good size too.

Good to hear. We will be staying there in September and have upgraded to a premium room. From what I read, I'll probably order groceries and not rely on the free breakfast. My family's not picky, but my daughter has food sensitivities, and it sounds like there aren't too many choices for breakfast.

We stayed here in Nov.2010 and had a great stay! We loved how big the rooms are as well. Wasn't real keen on the breaky but it was enough to get us started. I would definitely stay here again if the price was right!

We actually like the breakfast. We felt that they had something for everyone. They have usually about three different types of donuts, various types of cereals, bagels, cream cheese, toast, fruit, coffee, juices and tea in addition to hard boiled eggs. Honestly, unless you want a hot breakfast, you have everything you could want here in my opinion. We enjoy sitting by the pool before we head into the park and have a nice breakfast. It sure saves on the tons of money it costs for the three of us to eat breakfast in the park and with a 6 year old who typically only takes a few bites of whatever we buy him, we get more bang for our buck with the free breakfast at Ramada.

We just booked our room for next week and only paid $123 for a standard room but took advantage of their special free upgrade to a deluxe room. You can also opt to have your gas paid for if you bring in a receipt. That's pretty cool too.

They always had toast and biscuits and 3 types of cereal but they had donuts most mornings and bagels only twice while we were there for 8 days. one other thing that i was wondering was why there were a couple places plus the hotel that don't serve peanutbutter. is this common?

I eat the eggs all the time and they tasted like boiled eggs to me. Also, most places avoid peanut butter these days due to the severe peanut allergies that many seem to have.

I am headed to DLAND this NOV and had reserved the RA simply because that was the only walking distance hotel in my budget. Have been a bit worried since I couldn't find many positive comments on the place - but on the flip side, I didn't find many negative comments either. Good to see this thread. Since we do not typically eat a large breakfast meal, just a quick grab n' go will work perfect for us. Lunch is our "big" meal.

One post mentioned it was nice having ART there. This hotel is an easy walk to the park entrances correct? Was it nice having ART there to go to additional places besides the parks?

We had a great stay at the Ramada Maingate in July and would stay there again, absolutely. The kids really liked the pool, the breakfast worked just fine for us. Most of the other places on Harbor that we looked into were either more expensive, not as good of a pool, or no breakfast.

It's a very short walk to the DLR. I would suspect the person that mentioned ART was using it to go to other areas of Anaheim, not the parks.

Yes we used ART to go to the outlet mall and to target. They all started from disneyland and we bought our day pass from the front of our hotel so that was nice.

We stayed at the Ramada in November. We had reserved four rooms - one for my family of 4, one for my sister, one for my brother, and one for my parents. We asked for two of the room so to be connecting, since one of my sons was going to slip in each night and use the extra bed in my sister's room. The other two rooms just needed to be nearby.

When we checked in, the guy at the desk said he was going to upgrade my family to a suite so my sister could have the connecting room next door. We ended up with 2 queens, a sofa bed, a small kitchen, and a huge bathroom/closet/dressing area for the same price. It was awesome! He was able to put my parents next to my sister, but apologized that my brother would have to be two-doors down. No problem! We were all very close to each other. The rooms were very clean. We had brought our own pop-tarts and granola bars so we didn't use the free breakfast. Having the kitchen meant the kids could heat up their pop-tarts in the toaster. I made coffee every morning and we had some juices and waters in the fridge.

On the day we checked out, the desk clerk said we could leave our rental car in the parking lot. We didn't need to leave for the airport until 4:00 p.m. It was nice not having to move the car to the parking structure and pay for parking.

One other perk: If anyone in your party needs to rent a scooter, Scooter World is next to the front office. They have an agreement that allows you to return scooters to the Ramada office after Scooter World closes. The office logs in the return time, so you don't have to pay for an extra day even though it's after Scooter World's closing time.

We will definitely stay at the Ramada again, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

I'm looking into this hotel as well. How long is the walk? I stayed at the HOJO in April and it took me about 8-9 minutes to security, is the walk from here about the same? Also we will have a car with us, will we have to pay for parking? Thanks!

I just got back from my weekend trip and I had a blast!

I'm still on my vacation high, which brought me here (first time on the board)!

This is some of what I think about Ramada Maingate!

The location was perfect! In fact, the reason I found this hotel was because of their youtube video of how close it is. I didn't think I cared about distance, but when I wanted to come back in the middle of the day, it was a nice bonus to be close!

The first day we ate at Denny's for breakfast (it was on the way), and the second day we decided to save some money and just eat at the hotel since it was free. It filled me up, nothing to write home about, but it wasn't any worse than any hotel food i've had anywhere else.

Also on the second day we decided to come back for a swim in the middle of the day as it was so hot! They had fun water cannon toys at the pool which my kid loved! It almost felt like we were still at the park.

The service as good as expected. (I had been trolling their facebook before our trip, so I expected their service to be as good as it was online and I wasnt disappointed).

The only problem was in order to get the gas reimbursement, we had to book directly with the hotel. I had booked through expedia, so I had to cancel with them before I book through ramada maingate .com's website. I'm glad I found it though, and will book directly from there next time we come before the end of the year!

PS, ajrwdwgirl: this hotel is closer than hojo (about a 5 minute walk), and parking was free!

Ramada Maingate was our initial choice for our stay in Oct, but $133 per nite vs 69 at Anaheim Plaza made me change my mind. I keep checking, and if I can get under 100 at RM, I'll cancel AP and we'll stay at Ramada. I doubt that will happen and I think AP will be okay. We are hardly in the room and like to keep the hotel cost down so we can come down several times a year.

I stayed at the Ramada at Disneyland Main Gate in February. I booked the room for about $60. When we opened the door to our first room, it reeked like dirty feet and sneakers. It was horrible. I called down and the hotel clerk met us up at the room with keys for another room that smelled much better. whew!
