Just stopping by to wish you all a great weekend!!! :cool1: I'll check back in with you all on Monday. We are headed down to the Valley to visit with my DH's family and finally meet my Nephew. He and his Momma are visiting for the first time from Illinois.

Kristy: It is the Nuchal Translucency ultrasound.

Can anyone tell me what the first appointment is like?

I have PCOS. DH (30) and I (almost 28) decided to start trying in Feb, and my GYN said that we should go no longer than 6 months since I have a known issue.

Soo, that 6 months has rolled around, and I now have an appointment to see her next Friday. How does the whole process usually start? I've read about things like HSG tests and Day 3 tests. Is that what usually comes first? Do they check DH out right away?

I'm imaging if everything else checks out that I'll probably eind up on Clomid first since from what I've been tracking each month I haven't been ovulating. I seem to have a normal (as such) estrogen cycle but none of the second half.

But what happens to get to that point?

Not much new with me....

still testing negative: 8 days past 5 day transfer. I have pretty much resigned myself to a negative beta. We will try 1 more time with the frozen embryos (if they survive the thaw (God willing)

Kristine, I'm off to look for a study that shows how ridiculously uncommon it is to have a positive HPT after 8 days. It's out there, I'll find it for you. Now go relax and wait until Monday. I know it's easier said than done, but you are NOT out until you get your period. It is never a surprise when someone turns out pregnant that had zero symptoms, or had every symptom of AF. Hang in there!

Thanks Jennifer...I know what you are saying....but it's just a feeling. But, I know, it ain't over til it's over!

Hey girls! Sorry I've been MIA. We're having issues with our wireless router...I'm not sure who's wireless I'm on right now, but it's not ours! We need to work on it this weekend, but I had to jump on really quick.

I got a call from the nurse this afternoon right before I left my office....I FAILED THE TEST! :cool1: I'm insulin resistant. I know I shouldn't be excited, but I'm hoping this is my problem and we can fix it and get that BFP soon! My dr. told me to follow-up with my GP. So I have an appt with my GP on Sept 14th. After than, I'll call my gyn back to find out how long I need to try on whatever the GP puts me on before going back to see her. I was bummed that my gyn couldn't just prescribe me something, but I understand since this isn't really a gyn problem that she wanted me to go to my GP. I'm just so happy that I finally have a problem that I can blame this on!

Off to soccer practice...first game is tomorrow. :goodvibes

Oh..Kristine...please don't give up yet! Some girls never get a BFP on a stick!

Hey Kristine. I can attest to this my DS 3. I was a week late and took two home pregnancy tests and both were negative. Another couple days went by and I just had a feeling, so I took another, low and behold, it was positive.

Thanks for the encouraging words:goodvibes....I just can't help but feeling it's a bad sign...but I will TRY to hang in there :)

Allison--good news (?) on the test. I hope that this is the problem and that you can sort it out and get pg.

Kristine--Don't lose hope yet. I think eight days might still be a bit early. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Kristine~ I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! It's not over till it's over, like you said.

Allison~ Congrats on the bad news! ;) I know it sounds kind of ironic when bad news can sort of be like good news, right? Hopefully this will be the problem and you will get your BFP soon!

As for me, my instincts were completely right and we must have missed my O days. AF showed today. I thought I would be disappointed but I actually am not. The timing would have sucked as I would have been due during the last week of school. Plus, we weren't even trying this cycle so it's not at all surprising.

On that note, I am really excited because that means we can officially start trying this cycle! I have my BBThermometer and a pack of OPK and I joined FF a couple weeks ago and I am ready to get this show on the road!

I hope you all are doing well and having a great weekend!

Hi y'all! I've been out and about lately (mostly looking at cars) so I've been reading but not replying.

Kristy, good luck with your insurance! I do hope all goes well with this round ::yes::

Kristine, my fingers are crossed for you!

Pearliq, it all depends on the doc. Most will have you do some types of blood tests and then figure out what is the problem from there. I'm acutally wary of docs who just say "here's the drug you need" w/o a full work up.

Allison, WOO HOO on failing the test! I know that sounds so bad, but I totally get how that makes you feel. I hope that means your GP can get you back on track. It must feel great to know there should be some hope for you.

I need to run some errands before my DH comes home. I do hope you all have a great weekend!

I just wanted to pop in and say hi.

Allison - I am glad that they found something, though it seems wrong to say that. I hope that this allows for easier TTC once you get it under control.

Tasha - The time will come, right?

Kristin - I have been following along with you. I don't really know much about the procedure you had but logically speaking it seems that 8 days could still be early. The egg still needs to burrow into the uterus and start to produce HCG right? Would it be the equivalent to getting a BFP 8 days past O and BD? If so then I think it's still early ....

I have to hold myself back from wanting to start TTC again ... My DS is 4 months old and I want to wait until he is at least a year but I can't wait!!

Good Luck Girls ...

Haven't dis'd in awhile. Life gets so busy sometimes. But at least now that I'm back, I can fully share in this thread. Dh and I are actively TTC. I haven't started any charting yet, so maybe I can get some help in that area. Good luck to all the ladies on here!:wizard:

Welcome to the group. Since you have PCOS has your doctor tested you for insulin resistance? If not they'll probably do that first and possibly put you on Metformin. You may also go through the standard HSG test and day 3 blood work. I would imagine they'll probably test your husband just to have a baseline for any future testing.

Allison - Hopefully now that the doctor found something you can get everything worked out.

Kristine - Don't give up yet!

Thanks, and to you too, helenabear, for the info.

I got my PCOS diagnosis almost 13 years ago and they did test me for insulin resistance. The endo called me "profoundly" resistant, which I can't imagine is a good thing.

I am on Metformin (2000mg/day). Most days I can tolerate it OK, but every once in a while I have a rough day with it. I'm just trying to keep focused on the prize. I was actually hoping that it alone would be enough to get me to ovulate, but I'm about 99% sure that hasn't been happening.

I think AF (or whatever my body's strange fascimile is) is coming. On the one hand I'm happy to see some kind of a cycle, but on the other hand I know it's not working the way it's supposed to, so it probably doesn't mean much.

Good luck and best wishes to everyone!

pearlieq - My doc diagnosed me with PCOS and insulin resistance. I went through all of the bloodwork for that, as well as an infertility workup. If my memory is correct, I temped for 6 months before they started meds. As for bloodwork, a 3 hour glucose tolerance, TSH, CBC, day 3 FSH, and prolactin (and some more that I can't recall right now). They also had my husband do a SA.

I'm pretty sure the metformin was what worked for me (got pregnant the month I didn't take the clomid, and just had the glucophage.

Your temp stuff sounds like mine - no real curve or anything. It always just looked like an earthquake with no real rhyme or reason to it.

Are you seeing your GYN or going to reproductive endocrinology?

Good luck with the appointment!

Jen

Yeah, Allison! I am so happy that there may be a reason, and that it can be fixed. Before I started Metformin, I had several chemical pregnancies, too.

When you do get PG, please ask your OB to check your progesterone levels as early as possible. I needed progesterone supplementation, and I think it was because of the insulin resistance. Even if it wasn't, better safe than sorry.

Kristine - ie today your beta? Sending lots of luck to you.

peralieq - Have you been tested lately? I wonder if you need to change your dosage of Metformin to make sure all your hormones are working correctly. Good luck. Be prepared to have them test your DH. Our RE asked for the SA at our first appointment (and boy do we have funny memories from that experience).

Hi all...

Yes, today is Beta. I did POAS this AM, and it is still negative. We are pretty much resigned to hearing a BFN from the RE. I will let you guys know when I get the official word.
