Skuttle, I am so sorry... I really was thinking good thoughts for you. Just give your DS a little benadryl at night to make sure he sleeps through the night at WDW :rotfl: (yes I am totally joking). I do hope you have a magical time there though ;)

Mickeybar, I was actually told if it doesn't show up with in 8 weeks after to contact them. Three months is NOT normal and runs the risks of hormones still in place! So I better not wait that long ;) Hopefully my doctor was right and thinking that it would show up within a week or two at most. I sincerely hope that after the D&C that it won't be that heavy as mine are pretty bad normally :( Though I am lucky that after 4 days it is more or less done :teeth: I really hope that the miscarriage won't change too much of it. I feel like a sitting duck just waiting though... I really do feel all the signs in my abdomen, but not quite so much in the bbs... however those aren't nearly as reliable as the cramping is for me... as in the level of intensity with hurting comes and goes.

Not much else going on right now... I have to take my baby to the vet tomorrow for a recheck... she stopped eating while we were away at Thanksgiving :( In fact, I better go as she is pawing at my feet to hold her :)

Scuttle-I'm so sorry...I was pulling for you.

Carla-I'm like you...my cycle is usually like clockwork with the PMS symptoms. I view it as a good and bad thing

Michelle-I hope you are able to start your next IUI soon!!! And you are a true inspiration to those of us who are having trouble...you always are ready to try the next thing with your eye on the prize. I wish I had your strength and courage :goodvibes

FlyingBelle - That's great! Congratulations!

Skuttle - I'm sorry. I was hoping for you

Lisa - Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. If you and Kevin feel this is what you want, then everyone else can stuff it.

Denae - sorry about your grandparents. That's terrible so close to the holidays.

AshJohnson - :grouphug: It stinks to get your hopes up every month, and it seems to feel worse each month. I used to just start crying after AF kept showing up month after month. I assumed that starting on some of the meds would magically fix the whole thing, and thought it stunk more when even that took some time. Good luck.

Becky - Hi  Miss you around here!

Carla - I'm glad things are going well. How's morning sickness treating you? ;)

Everybody else - Hi there and good luck!

Take care ladies!

Jen

 Thank you everyone for your espressions of sympathy for my losses. It is amazing that they would die within 8 days of one another. My grandfather was 87 and my grandmother was 97 - my mom's dad and my dad's mom. They were both more than ready to go, and had lots of time to prepare, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Skuttle - that old hag! Just when you get your hopes up, too!

Minnesota - the weather was bitterly cold when I was there. I could not believe it. DH said last summer he thought he would like to live there someday, but I will have to take him in the winter some time. He will change his mind. My grandfather was buried at Ft. Ripley, and I thought my toes were going to fall off while we were standing outside.

Elaine - my SIL's dog stopped eating a couple weeks ago, and he had to have surgery to remove some "dead bowel." They think he must have eaten something bad. Hope your baby is doing better soon.

Denae

hi ladies- Lisa, sorry the old witch arrived.

she came for me wednesday. but that's good news, since it is on to a real cycle again. did the u/s this am and my cysts are gone, so i don't have to sit out a month again.

I am doing my 4th IUI. this is my second one with follistim injections. Dh has to start giving me the injections tonight- 150iu for 2 nights, then 100iu for the last 2 nights. then i go for an u/s on tuesday am to see how my follies are growing. probably won't be mature by then, so i bet i'll do a 5th night of shots. then i have another u/s scheduled for thursday. i am guessing i will be ready to trigger on thursday or friday (based on previous shot cycles- they make me O early and i am on a higher dose now). so i am hoping we do the trigger shot on friday (CD10) and the IUI on Christmas eve. the RE's is closed only on Christmas day (CD12). so here's hoping to fast growing follies!

I know CD12 seems early to O on, but with the fertility meds, especially the injections, i really o early. they actually do the bloodwork and even a post IUI sono the day after (however if the day after is christmas day, i won't get it)----to confirm ovulation and view the corpus luteum (the empty follicles after egg is released). here's hoping this cycle is the magic miracle.

oh and i already got lucky- my nurse friend at the RE's office hid me a free follistim sample. so i didn't have to pay for the shots this time.....the cartridge of follistim she gave me regularly costs $400. that doesn't include anything else (sono, bloodwork, IUI), that is simply for the shots. i was thrilled to say the least.

Michelle, CD3
4 months clomid, march-june
2 IUIs with clomid, aug/sept
LAP in oct
IUI with follistim injection- nov
NOW- IUI with follistim injection- dec!

 So sorry, Lisa.

Michelle...that's great! Looks like you've already received a little holiday magic! I hope that continues for you. :goodvibes

Nothing much new here. Just waiting for AF to leave so we can start trying again this month! I REALLY hope I don't miss my window of getting pregnant and having a baby all in the same calendar year since I have a high deductible insurance plan!!

Hello Ladies, I'm new to this thread and I hope you don't mind me jumping in, but DH and I would like to have children in the near future. A little background...We have NOT been using birth control for nearly 8 years and never had a pregnancy. We, however, have never purposely tried to conceive before. I'm thinking that one of us must have a fertility issue because wouldn't you think that we would have conceived in 8 years? I guess what I want to know is if any of you have had similar circumstances where you didn't use birth control for a long period of time with no conception, but one you started charting your cycle where you able to get pregnant?

Ok., it's late at night and I"m not sure that what I wrote even makes sense. :confused3 Please let me know if you need more clarification.

Thanks in advance.

Im new to the thread as well, and after reading the Dis boards for the last year - this is my first post! (the first thread I thought I really had something to contribute to)

I have three children of my own and I am a Traditional Surrogate x3. I had two boys for my first couple, and a little girl for my current couple - who tragically died 8 days after birth from a congenital heart defect.

My second couple and I are trying again - and my Intended Parent is in town this week for inseminations!

We've been trying for almost a year now. In the midst of trying, I was diagnosed with PCOS and an autoimmune disease, and have been on Metformin for a handful of months now. We're all really hoping that this cycle is The One.

After this last surro pregnancy is over, I will be taking my family to Disney for the first time together. (DH and I went once, 16 years ago) We've chosen to do both the parks and a 4 day cruise. So, it seems especially appropriate to have found this thread - where both the magic of Disney and the wonder of pregnancy are together!

[edit] I thought I'd add that I used Clomid for two of my pregnancies, and have used Letrozole instead for the last pregnancy and this time around as well.

I have terribly irregular cycles and have utilized both digital monitors (Clearblue Easy for 6 years and now OvaCue, which tests saliva!) and follicle ultrasounds.

I also homebirth and love it!!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this thread too and wanted to join in as my DH and I are TTC at the moment. We've been trying for 2 months now so not long really. But I do have a question and so I'll try not to be too graphic about it but it's really confusing me. Obviously I know what we have to do to conceive (!!) but I've read some websites and discovered the best positions to do it in and also how it can help to stay lying down for 20 minutes afterwards with a pillow under your hips. So I've done that but I find after I stand up afterwards, some of it comes out and it sometimes seems quite a lot and I'm worried that there's nothing left inside!!

Am I the only one with this problem as it's really concerning me now as we both really want a child now.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated and I'm sorry if it's too graphic.

Vick

First off :welcome:

As far as the other thing.... there are enzymes in your cervix that create changes while you're lying down so the part you need can actually go where it belongs and what comes out is the left over stuff. If that didn't happen and it all went 'up there' you'd actually get very sick. That's why the lab has to 'wash' it before an IUI (inter-uterine insemination) they have to separate the stuff you need from the medium it floats in. Sorry if it's a bit confusing, I'm trying to stay PG-13 here. Feel free to PM me if you have any more quetions, I've been TTC for more than 7 yrs and know waaaaayyy more than I should about the whole process. Good Luck!

I'm pretty much in the same boat... no BC for 8 yrs and no pg with DH (the kiddos in my siggie are from a prev relationship) Most Drs will tell you that if you have been off BC for more than a yr and have not been trying to prevent pg by natural family planning methods (which require you to take your temp and chart your fertile days) that you should both see a Dr for a fertility work up. Depending on your age, you may be able to see your GYN but if you're over 30, I'd ask for a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist (RE) as soon as your Dr tells you if there's a problem.

AF found me this week too. I pretty much expected to see her though and was excited. about it. My RE told me a year ago that I didn't O any more and I had such a rough time with the news. My body was a mess earlier this yr and I actaully had AF for 2 whole mos BUT that seemed to 'fix' what ever was going on because since than I've O'd every month around CD21. I've got to get my annual labs scheduled and consult with RE but if things go well, I should have an IUI right after we get back from the world. I'm hoping a bit of magic and pixie dust will follow me home and I'll finally get my BFP.

Snoopy,

If you want to hedge your bets, you can use an Instead Cup (originally designed to catch menstrual flow) to 'hold everything up there' for a couple of hours. Also, making sure you achieve orgasm can make a difference.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I feel a bit better now knowing that as I was really worried that there was nothing left up there!!

I really thought TTC would be easy as I was brought up with people telling me that if you have sex without precaution then you'd get pregnant - if only it was that simple!!

It's nice to meet you all and I'm going to try and contribute to this thread more as I don't really want to talk to anyone else about this as I want it to be a surprise to everyone when and if it happens!!

Vick :wave2:

  Welcome to all the new DISers TTC! I hope you're not on this thread long. ;) (I'm not being mean...if you're not on here long it means you got that BFP!! :goodvibes )

Not much new here. AF left so now I'm ready to start BDing again! According to FF, I will O on New years day...the first day of our trip!! We initially looked into renting a one bedroom DVC for this trip...boy I wish we did that now!

Everyone finish their Christmas shopping yet? I dragged DS around with me this weekend to finish up (DH had music practice at church). It actually wasn't too bad. I even bought some travel size things for our trip (Am I the only one that loves those things!!) and got so excited checking out withthem! LOL! Of course, I forgot to buy everything for my breakfast casserole I do every year, so we'll have to venture out to the grocery store again. :scared1:

Hi everyone! It's been a relaxing weekend for us. I wasn't online much since Luis took Friday off. I've been trying to clean so when my family comes they will see a nice clean house :teeth:

Welcome to all the newbies! I hope you all see a BFP very soon!!!!

Since we had a couple of people join, I'll introduce myself and say my name is Elaine (29). My DH (Luis, 29) and I have been TTC for just about a year now. We had a BFP in September, but sadly I miscarried at 12 weeks and went with a D&C due to how far along I was and me needing to travel in the next few days. The liklihood of needing and emergency D&C that far along was good enough that we just planned it. We had seen a heartbeat at 6w5d, but hte baby had been mostly reabsorbed by my body by 12.. since my body was still going full force with growing and hormones, we had no idea. So we are back at it again.

So my happy news of the day... AF arrived. Yeah I know many of you hate seeing the old hag, but for me that means I am ready to go. I had been lightly spotting since last Thursday (which isn't a norm for me, but considering, I'm not shocked). Yesterday hurt like crazy and today there was no doubt... she is here! It only took about 30 days to come after the D&C... not bad when I am normally about 27.5 days on a cycle. I am just very glad that I have my tylenol3 left over from the surgery... I have a feeling I'll need it ;)

Michelle, sorry you have to deal with AF, but I can understand the good feelings that go with. Sounds like we'll be starting at this again after our breaks at just about the same time... my fingers are crossed for you. So happy to hear that the cyst is gone!

Same for you as well Noni! Sometime that old hag is a good reminder that things are going "right" down there ;)

Glad I didn't have to explain about the "stuff coming out" since it was handled... I will say that it is totally normal :)

Christmas shopping is done here. It is also done by my DH as well!!!! That's an amazing feat for him ;) All we have left is to celebrate my sister's birthday today and wait for my brother to come for a visit!

I'm probably going to sound really stupid but I've been trying to work out the abbreviations that you use on this thread and I'm stumped!! I haven't managed to read all the posts on this thread so maybe they were explained earlier but please can you tell me what AF, BFP, BD etc is. I've worked out what some of them actually are but can't work out how they relate to the abbreviations!!

Sorry for being stupid!!

:confused3

Good morning, everyone!

Sorry about everyone's visits from the old hag! Unless of course you are happy about it! :rotfl2:

We went to Maine this weekend to visit DH's sister. Except for Emily getting car sick when we were almost there, and DH's tendency to rag on me all weekend, it was an enjoyable visit. I am not sure why DH did that, except that his sister was doing it to her DH, so I guess he needed to join in on the "fun."

I will do a new intro for all the newbies to the thread. We tried for a long time to get PG with Hannah, and Emily came along less than a year later. So when it rains, it pours. I had PCOS, which went undiagnosed until I begged my doctor to test me. Within 3 weeks of the start of taking Metformin, I got a BFP. I still get teary-eyed thinking about it.

We are not TTC, but I am a freak who likes to hang out with all the people on this thread, so here I am.

Good luck to everyone trying. And Happy Holidays!

Denae

first off, welcome to all the newbies!! DisneyBeagle, i had a similar situation- i was off BC for 5 years. we used no protection in that time, not even 'pull-out' method. so you would have thought we would have gotten pregnant in those 5 years, even though we weren't 'actively' trying. when i saw my ob/gyn and knew i was going to be ready to try soon, she said that wasn't normal and so she moved me through testing and treatment much quicker than normal. i did spend almost a year with her though, doing temp'ing/charting, semen analysis (2 for DH) and a die test for me, plus 4 months on clomid. she didn't make me chart for a year or wait a year, since there was obviously problems. she gave me the clomid after charting for only like 5 months, it was obvious i was irregular and not ovulating. so be sure and tell your ob/gyn about your 8 years off BC without other protection. it will help them know there is a greater potential for issues.

Elaine- so glad AF came for you!!!! i know we usually dread it, but in your case and mine, i could not have been more ready! glad you can move forward and start a new cycle! are you doing any meds or anything? i'll be wishing you lots of baby dust!

Tauwillow - what a gift you give, being a surrogate! i hope things go great this next try for your couple. it is truly generous and selfless to do that. i've had a friend offer for me, but we aren't to that point and i don't think i would emotionally be okay with someone else carrying my child (I guess that is why there is such strigent testing for the couple and surrogate!). anyways, best of luck to you!

well CD6 here, i do my 4th follistim injection tonight. already feeling bloated and having pretty bad cramping. my follicles are definitely growing, i can feel it. my dose was higher this time, so i know it is making a difference. i feel tired and bloated and headachy....but that's the game of meds. go in for a follie check tomorrow (u/s). hopefully follies are doing well and we can trigger later this week!

You're not stupid! Only those trying to conceive (TTC) would know what they mean. AF is Aunt Flo (your menstrual cycle, also commonly referred to as "the witch"). BFP is Big Fat Positive, as it refers to a pregnancy test. BFN is a Big Fat Negative. BD refers to having sex but I can't remember what BD actually refers to. 2WW is the 2 week wait you have after you might have conceived until you can test. That's all I can think of for now.

I'm not actually TTC right now, just in the thinking about it phase.
