Any other DCL cruisers who have NEVER been to WDW???

I have never been to WDW in my life!! As a kid growing up my parents just never had the money to take us on a vacation. As a young mother I have no desire to take my 5 yo and 1 1/2 yo until the younger one is about 4 years old.

Everytime we go on the cruise the crew members are amazed that I have never been to the parks, but have made it on the ship. I explain to them that they make the experience MUCH easier for us parents of little ones, but they always tell me I HAVE to go!!!


Just wondering if I am the only one who loves to cruise on DCL, but has had no prior Disney experience!!??!!

We've never been to WDW...we're from California and have been to Disneyland, but after our DCL cruise both my DH and I said we'd never visit Disneyland again. The cruise is so much more relaxing and fun.

We will be in your situation after our first ever cruise in Feb/March. Never had the money when we were kids, and I've not made the trip to the parks yet while my kids are little.

My DH and myself have never been to Disney. Same story, growing up, our parents couldn't afford it. Now our children are 13,10, and 5. We grew up in a working class neighborhood in Philly and don't remember any of our friends,classmates going either, so I guess we never felt we missed anything. We tried our first cruise last October on the Wonder. We were "disney virgins". We were really impressed! My FIL is planning to take the whole family this summer to WDW. It should be a neat experience, since none of us have ever been. BTW, we booked another cruise. We're going to try the 7 day this time.

We went on our first disney cruise last year. My daughter was 3 years old. I have not been to disney since 1973 (I was 2 years old , and of course don't remember a darn thing). This year my daughter is 4 years old and we are gonna give the land/sea thing a whirl. My husband went to Disney World when we was about 10 years old and he doesn't remember a thing either. So, it will be a whole new experience for all of us! Last year we just took a quick 3 day cruise at the last minute. We felt like we were so close to disney world that it was a shame not to go!

I went to WDW as a child (we were visiting my brother in Daytona and someone got the idea of "let's go see this new place called Disney World"). My main recolections are the long lines for lunch, riding a few rides (Hunted House, 2000 Leagues), and HATING the Indy Car Track (the pedels were so new and I was so little, I had to pull up on the steering wheel to get leverage to push the pedal, made steering slow and difficult, and the guy behind me was obviously in a hurry and kept ramming me - so no fun there).

As an adult, we planned a 4 day WDW trip plus a 4 day DCL trip. WDW was ok, but I wouldn't say I had lots of fun. The ship, on the other hand, was great. We've never been back to WDW and currently don't have any plans too (well, maybe once when the children are old enough to enjoy it). But in the mean time, we currently have our 6th Disney Cruise booked.

We've never been to WDW or have taken our first cruise - yet. I began looking into a WDW trip about a year ago and decided that a cruise was more of our idea of a vacation at this time. We still want to go to WDW - but we decided to go on the cruise first. We will eventually make it to WDW, but not sure when.

Well, at 36 I had never been to anything Disney. Never even seen Mickey! We spent one day at the MK before our first cruise in November. While it was fun, it was also very overwhelming...especially with two young kids. We skipped a day at SW to just recover from MK and see DT Disney. Now the cruise? It was 7 days of true vacation for me. after still being on duty in the park. We have booked our next cruise for 12/4/04, but don't plan to go to WDW at all. It will be a couple years before DD is big enough to ride everything that she wants to ride & DS wants to ride anything.

We are another family who has never been to WDW. We have been to Disneyland so many times I couldn't even count though. We're thinking about doing a day trip to WDW on our next cruise. No sure if it would really be worth it though. Is it really that much better than DL if you're only staying for a day?

This is a very interesting thread. First, DH, DD and I HAVE been to WDW 6X in the past five years. It's an annual trip for us. Ironically, I find myself in the same boat (no pun intended ) with so many of you, (by what you've posted.) I NEVER had these kinds of vacations growing up. I have four siblings, and there's no way my parents could've afforded it! DH was an only child, and even though he vacationed more w/his parents, he didn't have it this good either. It's his and mine own fault(?) that our daughter has had these elaborate trips. We're making up for the things we didn't do, but I don't know how much she'll appreciate it. (Don't get me wrong though, she loves WDW.) But I think we're leaning more to doing DCL only from now on. In other words, WDW is great, but if you're only doing the cruise, that's great too, because the same 'magic' is there. DH, DD and I have asked ourselves many times which one we like better, and it's next to impossible to choose one Disney vacation over another. The cruise is winning out! So, for those of you who haven't done WDW, it'll still be there when you want to go. You have my vote for the cruise though!
