Any other Dachshund lovers out there? Tell me about yours!

We have had "weinie" dogs since my daughter was a little girl and she is now 28 yrs old. They have all been short hairs, some red and some black and tan. Our current one is a red female named "Heidi" and she is 9 yrs old. We just lost our 10 yr old male in May to nasal cancer so Heidi is all alone. She is a big girl weighing in at 36.5 lbs about 2 months ago, but she is on a diet and we think she has lost a couple of pounds. Our male was very demanding and had so much personality! However, Heidi is very laid back and independent. The only thing she needs from us if FOOD! That girl loves to eat. We are going to Disney in December for 10 days and are worried about leaving her as this will be the only time she has ever been alone.

We have a 6 mth old mini red, COACO. She is a great dog, very friendly and loveable. Wouldn't trade her for anything else. I just love her puppy kisses.

We have a 6 year old mini. 7 pounds. just starting to get a little gray. I dont know that i would get another one tho. She was a terror to housetrain and the famous back trouble has started. Most of the time she is a little sweetheart, tho.

1980! He had a Black & Tan (Miss Piggy) and than when he and I got together, we had P.W. mini-red (Pee-wee). We lost him July 2 last year, and we were without a Dog for all of 3 weeks, when we adopted 2 mini-reds, in Ft, Myers a boy (mickey) and a girl (Lady bug). They are a year old now, and we have had them a year, and they are a LOT OF FUN!! I wouldn't have any other Dog now, except maybe a Golden Retriever, as they get along with the Dachshunds--they HAVE too! Mickey just recently ate my cleaning sponge and tries to eat my shoes everyday! Lady Bug does not like Rugs on the floor, and tears them up as soon as I lay them down. Other than that, they are a Joy! They are the best sleeping buddies too.
