Any other adoptive familes?

I needed these posts today! I have 2 bio children, dd5 and ds3. We have them only because of 10 years+ of Infertility, IUIs, IVF, etc... We are still struggling with this, but I am getting tired.

We have thought of adoption often, but hesitated because of already having 2 kids. I feel strongly that we are meant to have more children, I have started thinking about china, maybe domestic infant, but feel we could do more good going to China. It is so good to hear your stories. I would love to hear more about how your adopted children responded to your bio children and visa versa. This is my only concern. There is plenty of room in my heart to love another child, or 2 or 3 ;)

We have 4 bio sons and adopted a little girl. There was a part of me that was worried that she wouldn't be loved as much and teated the same as the boys. We decided to adopt from Russia, partially because we felt that we didn't want her to "stand out" as the adopted member of the family. It is amazing how much an integral part of the family she is. Everyone loves her and I can't imagine a time when she wasn't a part of our family. I wish I was younger and richer so that I could adopt more beautiful children.

Lori, I'm in Central NY too. Having fun shoveling out? My dh is on his way out to clean the driveway for the third time today and it's only 2pm. I think we have had about 17 inches of snow since last night. My sis in Jacksonville called to tell me it's sunny and 75 there.

We have bio DS(10) and adopted dd(4) from China at 10 months. She is from Hunan province which is reknowned for its "spirited" girls. When we received our referral package, in describing her personality, they pegged her as looking like she would be an "obedient daughter".:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Turns out she falls more firmly into the "spirited" category, and we wouldn't have it any different.

We have one birth child (6). We are foster parents so adopting out of foster care seemed to be the right path for us. Our middle child (4) was placed with us when she was 20 months old. She was a special needs adoption (born at 28 weeks). She had a feeding tube, not walking, and was developmentally a 12 month old. After a week she was no longer using the feeding tube. By the end of the month she was walking and caught up developmentally. She is now 4 going on 40. Six months after placement we got a phone call from social services letting us know her little brother (we didn't know existed) was abandoned. He was 11 months old and perfectly healthy. They are both legally adopted. We just got our son's (3) birth certificate last week. We will be taking our 2 oldest to Disney in April. This will be child #2 first trip. Our little boy will be enjoying some alone time with Granny and Papa. Because he is not tall enough to ride everything with his sisters, he won't be thrilled about waiting while they ride. We have enough competition with the two little ones as it is. Waiting while they ride something he can't will just crush him. He doesn't like to be the little one.

Count me in as well. I am a single adoptive mom to be.....I am waiting for a referral from Ethiopia. I have been waiting 7 months now as of today...and hopefully will have a referral in the next two months. I am planning our first trip to Disney this December.

I am hoping that in a few yrs I will be able to join this list. DH and I want to adopt a baby with a cleft.

We did! Twice!

My oldest is 19, born in Korea. He is all done with surgery.

My youngest is 16, born in the Phillipines, needs 2 more surgeries. He was only 10 lbs at a year old so he has had alot of struggles.

They are both doing well!

Not yet, but soon to be. Our file is being sent off to China this week, and then we'll face the long wait (predicted 2 years) for referral. I dream of the day we can take our child to Disney. We're going to WDW in September, and I know I'll be buying some baby things even though we'll still have a long wait!

Congratulations on being DTC! :thumbsup2

We were DTC July 20, 2005 and thought we'd wait 6 months for referral. We waited 13 months and got our referral on August 25, 2006. It was long and hard but so worth it.:cloud9:

My dd is wearing an outfit today that I bought in July 2005 on my mom & boys Disney trip. I had such fun buying it and now it brings back good memories when she wears it. So shop your little heart out!princess:

Add me to the soon to be list, we've been approved for 3 months and are in the matching stages (Domestic Adoption). We are giving the Domestic side of things a year before moving back to the Philippine program (which was our initial interest and where we felt our heart leading us). We were matched last month, but we had to deny the placement due to some issues that were presented to us in the full file disclosure. Very disheartening, but since we're adopting older children and not infants....we were told to expect some 'special needs', and now it's just finding our kids :)

We are an adoptive family, DS was adopted from Kazakhstan at 4 years of age, he is nearly 7 now, WOW where has the time gone? He will be on his
3rd Disney trip this June with his first time flying since coming home. We can't wait.
