The in-laws are trying to book us a timeshare in the Orlando area. Hard for us to be picky when they are trying to do us a favor, but is there any place you would never go back to? Any you would love to go back to?

The Orlando TS resorts include:
Grand Beach Resort
Bahama Bay Resort & Spa
Bryan's Spanish Cove Resort
Cypress Grand Villas
Cypress Pointe Resort
The Fountains Resort
Sheraton Vistana Resort
Sheraton Vistana Villages
Wyndham Cypress Palms

Our group is DH and I, and three kids, 9-16 years old. Pools are very important, plus convenience to DW. We're counting on having full kitchen for most breakfasts and a few other meals.

Thanks!

We've only been to one timeshare resort in Orlando that we wouldn't return to - Vacation Villas at Fantasy World in Kissimmee - but we've also been somewhat selective.

Currently, we usually pick Marriott but have liked other resorts associated with hotel chains - the Sheratons, the Hiltons, Orange Lake (associated with Holiday Inn) - and have enjoyed the very nice Cypress Pointe Resort and Cypress Pointe Grande Villas. And, of course, the Disney Vacation Club resorts are really nice.

On your list, I'd pick Sheraton Vistana Villages over Cypress Pointe Resort over Sheraton Vistana Resort over Cypress Pointe Grande Villas as my top four but would be happy with any of them. All are within 10 miles of all the parks - Vistana Villages is the furthest from the parks (10 miles from Animal Kingdom which is the furthest park from the resort) while the other three are about the same distance from the parks (about 7 miles from Animal Kingdom).

I've been to Grand Beach, Cypress Point Grand Villas, Cypress Point Resort and Wyndham Cypress Palms. I would return to any of them but my top would be Grand Beach. Then next would be Wyndham Cypress Palms.
I've also been to Orbit One, Liki Tiki, Orange lake, Silver Lake, Club Sevilla, Fantasy World, and a few others, names escape me. I didn't have any serious problems with any of them. The only one I would probably not return to is Fantasy World. When I went it just seemed old and worn out. That was a few years ago so things might have changed.

I just returned from my first stay at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas (11/6/10 - 11/13/10). It was completely adequate, nothing more, nothing less. Points values being equal, I would go back to Grand Beach before returning the Cypress Pointe Grand Villas. I'm going to post a review in the reviews section.

Liki Tiki is probably the closest to one I wouldn't return to. I've not real picky, but our unit was NOT clean at all.

The only three on your list we've been to are Grand Beach, Sheraton Vistana and the Fountains. All are nice resorts. Vistana is my kids' favorite.

This is my list in order of my preference:

Marriott's Cypress Harbour-Very nice
Marriott's Grande Vista-Very nice
Wyndham Bonnet Creek-Very nice
Star Island-Nice
Vistana Villages-Nice
Wyndham Cypress Palms (so-so but they are redoing it)

Sheraton's Vistana Resort - the only place that was so bad I would not return to it.

I told my husband I had to go to the experts before ranking our choices. I doubt we'll really have a "choice" at this point, but it's good to know we tried.

If you are still interested West Gate Resort and Spa was everything but a pleasant experience. This was our first time visiting Florida and our first time experiencing Disney. The time share representative made our week a living hell to say the least. Agreeing to the time share tour thursday morning, they started calling Monday , cont'd to call my husbands cell, during our time at Disney. At the time share tour(over 2 hrs.) the time share rep became physically confrontational with my husband when he refused to purchase. We never received a $50 credit we were over charged .We would never go back!! Through friends and family that own we are fortunate enough to be invited to several time share resorts before our vacation . We are still in the process of choosing where and when we will purchase. We would return to the Liki Tiki but purchase is out of the question because of location. Our kids had a great time there. Last year we chose Sheraton Vistana Village really nice unit(bld.23) best so far. Year before Orange Lakes, but because of location would not go back, very crowded noisey. This year we have chosen Vistana Resort over Marriot Cypress Harbor, reason for this is friends are owners at Vistana and highly recommend it for children. No parks this year. The most important thing is don't be intimidated by the timeshare sales, if you are usually polite in your refusal they will leave you alone. . International drive area is the best location in our opinion.Enjoy
