I was thinking of making an adr for the yachtsman's steakhouse. I was wondering if anyone had any positive or negative reviews of this place? Also, what's the atmosphere like? We're going to be there for our honeymoon so we'd like someplace quiet and romantic. TIA!

I definitely recommend the Yachtsman. Take a look here for a menu.

The steaks are the best at Disney (maybe 2nd to Shula's) with several different varieties from which to chose

Def. a must do. The view from the circular area near the front of the restaurant is really nice if you enjoy a view of the pool. It is also great for people watching.

I wouldn't say Yachtsman is quiet. Personally, i think it is a little noisy. I think Citricos is quiet if you have considered that.

However, if you enjoy splitting food, Yachtsman has a Chateaubriand for Two that you could split ;)

We ate there over christmas this year and had a great meal all around. DS and DH had filet cooked perfectly and I had the NY strip also cooked perfectly. DS and I split mussels as appetizer and DH had caesar also great. Service was very good except when server forgot DS drink multiple time. Dessert was berries and ice cream for DS and DH and I split creme brulee. Great meal and DVC discount to boot! We will return.

We took a large party there, worst steaks we have ever had and terrible service. Usually we will give places a second chance unless they are really bad all the way around...Yachtsman will not get a second chance with us.

We eat there every trip and love it, the food is real good, the servers are very nice, overall I give YSH 2 thumbs up :bounce:

Thanks for the opinions and the link the the other thread :)

Does anyone know if this is a good option for people who don't eat steak? I feel bad because DH loves steak but I'm more of a salad person.

I've eaten here twice.

First experience was wonderful. Great food, fantastic service, incredible.

Second time, was horrible. The steak was less than appetizing, the service was mediocre at best and I had a wonderful table right next to Ma & Pa Kettle and the clan (t-shirts (that didn't even cover the gut & dirty jeans and an apparent soap allergy :crazy2: ).

I'm not ready to try for a third when there are places that are so much better (and reliable), like Shula's or California Grille.

Took my husband there for his birthday/made ressies and told them "quiet area, husband's birthday", called back before trip to reiterate, and then called once at WDW to reconfirm ressie date and time and reconfirm quiet area/husband's birthday. We get there, get seated next to a 'group' of conventioneers who were quite drunk and then next to a family with 2 screaming, wriggling kids. Asked for another table. Was better, but wasn't that impressed with the food. We had done Flying Fish a few days prior and loved the food there, even though the atmosphere wasn't very quiet.
To do over again, I'd do Flying Fish hands down over Yachtsman.

I am so surprised by so many bad posts. I have eaten at both Citrico's and yachtsman in the past month (and many other times). Yachtsman is MUCH quieter, and I have always had great food there!

Everything was good there, although I don't remember any specifics, so I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The atmosphere, though, is great. Wood floors (I believe) slightly darkened, relatively quiet. They also have one room with an incredibly high ceiling that, I think, is supposed to resemble the hull of a ship. Either way, it's great to look at and to have a meal under.
