My son & I are checking out schools for him to go to in Fall 2008. We used to live in Clearwater and luckily he's enrolled in the Florida Prepaid College Program. We visited USF last year - but it really wasn't for him. He's into creative writing - mostly likely will be an English major. He's also interested in photography as well as filmmaking.

Just wondering if there's anyone out there that's either gone to FSU or is looking to go. We live in Southern NJ, but I plan on moving back to FL sometime in the future - guess it all depends on what/where he wants to go. We've narrowed the NJ college search to about 3, now he's looking & thinking about Florida schools. Sheesh - who knew it was such a BIG thang?

Thanks for any help!!:yay:

I am a senior at The Florida State University. I absolutely love the school, however I am an Accounting major so I would not be able to give you any insight on the English department. I would suggest checking out the campus if you get a chance.

Hello,
I am a recent grad from FSU myself. I grad. from the business school too. My roomate actually graduated from the English Dept. and is currently getting his masters. He says its a great program. The overall expierence is amazing. Tallahassee is a great college town. Youll learn to love it. If I could only go back :)..good luck and I hope u choose FSU!

I have a couple of friends who are FSU graduates, and I hear nothing but good things :)

Since i've never been, i can't give you advice on that, but i'll try to give you advice elsewhere: If you're really undecided, go to community college. There's absolutely no shame in it. The first 2 years of college are all basic courses anyway that you could be taking at a CC for a lot cheaper. Plus, when about 30% of his friends start coming back home going "i'm not ready to go away" you wont be $25,000 in debt! (most of my friends came home after the first semester, and my good friend whos getting married has to pospone the wedding because shes $30,000 out because she came home after her first semester at Long Island University) just a suggestion, if he's open to it, its a great start. PLUS, FSU automatically accepts anyone with an associates at a florida community college. So does any florida school for that matter.

I looooooooooooved my time at Florida State, and I feel that I got a great education as well as a good college experience. I knew from my first visit that FSU was right for me - a good size, a nice town, something about it just clicked with me right away.

I don't know anything about the English department, I was a Theatre major - but it's definitely a school worth looking into!
