This is a horrible story. A woman's boyfriend had a history of violence and isolating the woman and her daughters from her family for 4 years. The woman leaves him, he kidnaps her at gun point, is arrested, makes bail and is released after 30 hours. The woman flees to Tulsa, 700 miles away. As this was unfolding, I couldn't believe that she left her daughters with her parents in that town. My first thought was, how could she leave those girls? This horrible story became even more horrible. The oldest daughter was kidnapped and murdered. I don't know how anyone gets over that. Hind sight may be 20/20 but I feel that children would always be targets. Given the information that is unfolding now, her whole family was always targets. So many lessons here, not to mention the court releasing this predator. Maybe Dr. Laura is right. If you are single, don't date until your children are up and out of your home.
Something very similar happened in my community last week. A monster who had been in jail 26 times since 1989 murdered his wife and 14 year old step child. He shot the little girl in the back while she was running away and then 5 times in the back of the head.
