Any one use essential oils?

I saw something on TV the other day about an essential oil that helps lighten dark spots - the lady was applying it right out of the bottle onto her face. Any ideas what it might be? I wanted to tell my mom, but I've forgotten what it is already!

I use essential oils for homemade soaps and lotions, but have never used them for medicinal purposes. I will have to do a little research and see if I can find something to help DS with his allergies. He has problems all summer long.
Lemon lavender and peppermint equal parts in a capsule. But make sure the brand you are using is high quality and pure for internal use.
I used to use different brands for my soaps and lotions, but now I stick with one particular brand because of purity.
I just bought a starter kit. I'm hoping to help our seasonal allergies & cold prevention during the cold & flu season.

I'll still get my flu shot though.
Did you get the doterra starter kit? Did you see the 100'uses document for it?

I was just looking at essential oils today! Does anyone know of an oil or a combination that could be used to treat GERD??

Digestzen and add some ginger also. Digestzen is a blend

frankincense

Flu Bomb
3 drops doTERRA Oregano
5 drops doTERRA On Guard
5 drops doTERRA Melaleuca
5 drops doTERRA Lemon

I teach and this works wonders.

Love the bomb!
Are you on any doterra Facebook groups?

Great thread!

I use Tea Tree (melaleuca) a lot for acne, cuts, burns...just about anything superficial. My husband calls it my favorite perfume. :rotfl:

Interested to learn more about essential oils, keep it coming...

Do you know what the blend is?

Digestzen has anise, caraway, coriander, fennel, ginger, peppermint , and tarragon.

It really works well, any GI upset here and I rub digestzen on the belly and a drop under the tongue. Works great.

I use Oil of Oregano any time I am the least bit sick as well, have not been "really" sick in years and years -can not get anyone else in the family to take it though -and well, they get sick.
Have never heard of putting it on the kids feet-how do you do that? Straight, or mixed with another oil, like almond? and how many drops? Great idea!

I am off to look up a few others mentioned here!

I usually use about 3 or 4 drops of the oregano oil on the bottoms of my kids feet when they are asleep. It has a strong smell, so I put their socks on as soon as I rub it in. I've been doing this when my kids seem a bit under the weather for about five years now. For us it works wonders!

Some people I know put the drops directly under their tongue.

Oh my! Under their tongue? Oregano is "hot" how can they stand it!

Not easy to do. However, I have gargled oregano for sore a sore throat. It works amazingly well. Chase with OJ.

It's not so bad under the tongue and then you drink juice quickly to wash it all down.

But I would never give it to my kids this way, unless I was mad at them! :rotfl2:

I've been using essential oils for about 15 years and I swear by them. I always have them burning in my house and I make lots of lotions and potions with them...
But a word of warning, be VERY careful putting them in your mouth. They can be extremely toxic. Even applied directly to your skin without can be toxic if you aren't careful...

My personal favourites are Geranium oil and Bergamot oil.
If any of us are sick with a cold my favourite is a few drops of Eucalyptus oil diluted in Almond oil lathered all over the chest, throat and back. I swear by it.

It's not that the oils are toxic it's if they are not pure. So many low grade oils have impurities that's why you have to be absolutely certain the oils you use internally are pure and tested.
The oil you might find at cvs is not going to be the same quality you get from say DoTerra or Young Living

I agree. I would only take doTERRA or Young Living internally.

You can't post the info in the thread? :confused3

I think it was in response to where to buy and what to use them for, I can answer.
You can buy them at health food stores and through various companies like young living and doterra via a consultant. There is even a new company called spark naturals you can order online. Or you can get your own account and order at discount like some of us o.

I used to buy mine via Camden grey website and used for soap making ,but now I also use them medicinally so I signed up for a wholesale account with doterra and I order them online.
The reason I picked doterra is simply that a friend told me about them I tried and loved them. I have friends who use young living and love them too.

As for what you can do with them, almost anything.

They are not meant to cure any disease, but what they do is strengthen immunity and allow your body to work with itself to heal.

Here is a feat reference site, you can look up health concerns and see what oils help or you can look up oils and see what they can do.
It has a doterra slant, but it does state it applies to other essential oils as well.

So do I need to tell my mother to be careful using the frankincense directly on her skin? Should she be mixing it with something first (and if so, what)? :confused3

The woman on TV was dabbing it onto a cotton ball from the bottle and then right onto her face for the dark spot treatment, so I just assumed it was safe to do that (which is what I told my mom).

I put doterra frankincense right on my skin every day. What brand does she have?
