Any one only watch old stuff?

As kids we were often sent to various stores to make purchases. In fact I am trying to think if my parents ever actually went to the milk store themselves!

i remember being maybe 7 or 8 and being sent to the neighborhood store to get cigarettes for my mom.

Yes, really "old stuff". We're currently into Adam-12 and Emergency. But I also watch Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke, as well as black & white movies from the 30s/40s. And Password, Password Plus, and Super Password.

But not "only". I also watch newer stuff - Dr Pol, Hallmark Christmas movies, People's Court, Monk, and PBS's All Creatures Great and Small.
Read the credits on Adam 12. Some of the names of the characters in the credits are downright offensive.

About 4 months ago I was on YouTube and discovered a game show from the 1950s and 1960s called What’s My Line. I was obsessed with watching it. It was almost like watching people from another civilization. Things sure changed since then. I did find it very interesting though.
That is a classic game show. It was on TV from 1950 to 1975. Still on from time to time on Buzzr and GSN.

No one in my household smoked so I never had to do that. But do recall other kids buying them. I also remember having to go to the gas station to get the gas can filled, back when you could fill it for mere change.

Nope. I am a one-and-done viewer and prefer much more recent stuff.

Currently on Season 7 of Murder She Wrote. I love older shoes. I was too young to really understand a lot of them. Now I am older, it is nice to really get it.

i remember that if prices were the same at competing stations my mom's choice was always based on either who was giving out more blue chip stamps or the better 'gift with purchase' (usually towels or glassware).

Both my parents smoked. Even in the 1960's kids weren't supposed to be able to buy cigarettes. They never asked me to buy cigarettes for them. But in those days every gas station has an unattended vending machine with cigarettes, so kids could buy them that way.
My dad died from lung cancer when I was 9 so smoking was a sensitive topic in our house.

This is one of my favorite old shows. They used to have several old game shows on Sunday evenings on Game Show Network and I watched every week. It was fascinating to see the episode where they had the contestant who actually witnessed the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. That was on "I've Got a Secret", I believe. It's on YouTube.

Sidebar - look up the life and death of Dorothy Kilgallen. It was ruled a suicide, but I don't necessarily believe that as she had done investigations into the JKF assassination and was highly critical of the Warren Commission findings.

Oddly, enough a few months back I got hooked on watching those episode of What’s My Line as well. I also looked up the death of Dorothy Kilgallen. Very intriguing and disturbing.

I occasionally watch older things more so movies than shows but my husband is notorious for it. He is always watching really old sitcoms and police shows on Amazon. He is currently watching “That Girl “ and “TJ Hooker”. I will always remember when my eldest was born and he stayed home for the first few weeks and it was a constant marathon of Murder She Wrote, Rockford File and Hawaii 50. I think we had TV land back then. He is 56 but watches shows before his time. He does watch newer things too but he always has an older show or 2 on the go.

A lot of old stuff and documentaries. I rewatched all of CSI Las Vegas (before remake) and I watch Law & Order a lot (the original). My mother and I went most of the way through "The Love Boat" recently, and when I'm at her house we watch "Columbo." No current series.

To Tell The Truth was my favorite old old game show but I love the Match Game. They were all drinking vodka behind their desks. And Hollywood Squares but mostly for Paul Lynde.

The "old stuff" is so much better than what's currently being shown. It's not necessarily a generational thing. Way back in ancient times (Lol), there were only 3 networks on TV. So, if you wanted to get on TV, it had to be the best. You got the best actors, the best writers, etc. Back then, it was quality vs quantity.

Today, anything and everything gets shown. There's truth to the saying, "A thousand channels and not a thing to watch." Now, it's quantity over quality.

I’m currently watching Seinfeld and NCIS. I also watched Sister, Sister, The Nanny, and Stargate sg1 not that long ago.

We (my husband, DD26, DD21, and me) love watching old shows. We watch Monk and Psych a lot but really love the old, old shows...Andy Gritffith, Leave It To Beaver, Donna Reed, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke Show, and some others. We find the humor to be much more enjoyable and relatable than most current shows. And, we'd much rather watch that kind of humor than insult based or sex based humor. We were talking with some friends one day and they couldn't believe my DD21 loves The Donna Reed Show. I think that is her favorite show of all time.
