Any one on 7-29-06 / 7 Night Western!!!! Is Back

Hi Everyone!
I guess the Holiday season is officially here? Did anyone go shopping on Black Friday? I did. Did not get up at 5:00 when the doors opened though. Got a few things. Got Steven one of those rocker chairs were he could hook the e-box up to. I also got him a clock radio to go with the I pod scuffle. I also got him something to tie into his 21st birthday. Kohl’s had can of boxer shorts. Those cans were beer cans. I thought that was different.
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Also, hope you had a Happy and Safe Turkey Day.

Good Morning! I found myself laughing as I went through Target yesterday! I didn't have to be there!!! It was amazing watching as people pushed and jockeyed for postition in the aisles. For me, I just wandered about laughing at all the chaos! After the boys basketball practice was over they went to play golf...Abby's finger still won't let her grip a club. :sad2: She did go and help Tom lead his practice. All involved had a great time! Since she couldn't golf we headed to TJ Maxx and had a ball! It is awful shopping with her, because everything looks good on her!!! She is good about saying no, when she knows she really won't use or wear it! WHEW!!

We do Coca-Cola ham too!!!! I knew there was a reason we all clicked! It is actually on old southern recipe! Do you guys flip and baste after the first half hour, then again after a complete hour, and then again after another half an hour???? If kids in the neighborhood, or teams the boys play on hear that we are having it, we suddenly have additional mouths at the table! I did the ham, and Tom did the prettiest turkey I have ever seen! My mom wanted to take photos as she thought it came right out of a magazine holiday spread! :goodvibes She has the ability of making everyone feel as if they are the most special!

Marci, glad your mom is still taking forward steps. How did the Thanksgiving creations go with you and your dad??? A few years ago, we did a Wolfer Girl's day. My mom's maiden name was Wolfer. We pulled all the female cousins and aunt's together and made Lebkuchen. My grandmother used to make it and give it to the family for Christmas. I don't know if any of us really ever LOVED it, but we loved her making it for us. So we wanted to share that tradition...before it went away. We need to do something like that again.

My mom is doing okay right now. They have the infection under control and she it is healing. Considering that she makes NO new blood cells, it is remarkable! They will consider putting in a new port in a few weeks.
How are everyone elses moms??? My prayers to all!!!

Jen...everything back to normal since the quake? How is the pool???? While we are enjoying our 60 degree weather, I could definitely enjoy a pool!

Since we are not probably going to pull off a Florida girl's trip this year, if we plan now for next year...think we could come up with a date for next winter????

Flo...enjoy Steven's birthday! I can't even contemplate 21. I don't even want to be thinking about Abby's sixteenth and that is a year and a half away!!!! The Shuffle will definitely be enjoyed! We are definitely an iPod family. Tom and I were both being silly, wishing the black ones would have come out first! We did the Bose docking station as well...last year's anniversary, birthday, Christmas gifts to Tom...I got him one for Peoria and Florida.(Our anniversary is today...the 25th, his birthday is Christmas Eve, and then of course Christmas!) (the funnier side is that Tom and his brother three years younger are both Christmas Eve. The brother between them is New Year's Eve!!!!) The new ones are black and would have gone so much better with both kitchens!!!!

Carla...just watched White Christmas...it was actually on WGN on Thanksgiving day. Our boys do the Crosby/Kaye version of Sisters!!! Too funny to watch!!!!

Valerie, hope your trip was fun and relaxing!

Helen...HELLO!!!! How are things going with the class???

Lisa...HI!!! How did you enjoy WICKED???

Well, gotta run! I have written tooooo long. Sorry all!
Love ya

Hi Everyone!
Just got back from beautiful Big Bear, about 2 hours away. No snow but we have no chains and have no idea how to drive in snow and ice. Sorry guys, I know you can't believe it! Jen - you can relate!
We got to stay in a nice cabin for free! One of Dan's students offered it to us. So nice. We went to the small zoo they had and it was wonderful and saw all the ski resorts with no snow. We also went bike riding around the lake.
But.......my :furious: back is in horrible pain again! Remember when I went camping before school started it came back. Supposedly I have a "spondy" which is a cracked vertebrae and I probably have had it since I was born. I have been going to a chiropractor and it has helped but whenever I get out of my routine it seems to get aggravated.
Well, an old friend of ours who lives in Big Bear came over to the cabin for breakfast and told us that she has the same thing. And I guess if you injure it bad enough you can lose the use of your legs. Scary!!! :scared1:
I just need to strengthen my stomach muscles and get adjusted and I'll be fine.

I did not go shopping yet but we did watch It's A Wonderful Life, Elf, and the Grinch and Polar Express.
If you watch Polar Express, the kid with the glasses is VERY similar to my tough student this year. When I heard him talk I was rolling on the floor with laughter (this was before my back started hurting). :rotfl2:
Another of my favorites is "Home For The Holidays" with Holly Hunter. It's great.

My mom came with us to the cabin and she is doing fabulous!!
Yeah!
pixiedust: to the rest of the moms.

Talk to you soon,
Valerie

Sounds like you had a ball!!! YEAH!!!! :cheer2:
Speaking as the daughter of a chiropractor, worked for him for 10 years, and took a few classes....staying with the routine your doc sets for you is the beest. Ask him about getting set on a Nautilus exercise program and possibly either a Pilates or Yoga regime. Dad has always been frustrated when he sees kids in the middle seats of cars with just the lap seat belt. If in an accident, depending on the kind, the way they whip forward can snap a vertabrae in the lumbar region and produce paralysis.
Anyway, it sounded like a beautiful trip. And how special to share it with your mom!!!
Is your student getting any better??? It has to be so hard knowing what you are facing every day! My applause to you, and Helen, and all teachers!!!! You are BRAVE souls!

Hi everyone!

Tif -- sounds like you guys had a great holiday. When do we get to see a pic of your peacock tree? I'm glad your mom is doing better. I hope Abby's fingers gets better soon. I must have missed when she hurt it -- what happened?

We decided that we couldn't put all our decorations up this year -- just not enough time with everything going on in our lives -- plus my "laptop" elbow (really diagnosed as tennis elbow because of laptop) gives me problems so I had to sacrifice my staircase and kitchen. The staircase is my fav, but I just don't have time to do it. The only thing left is our big tree in the living room and Jake is working on it now -- it's a pre-lit and has some lights out. UGGGHHH!

Valerie -- sounds like you had a lot of fun, but I'm sorry your back is acting up. Please take care of it! I'm so glad to hear your mom is doing well.

I've had a stomach virus for two days now, but I finally felt like watching TV today so this afternoon I saw White Christmas. It still gives me goose bumps at the end where they sing the title song. I may watch Holiday Inn tonight.

Andrew has had the same virus, but was at 100% after not even 24 hours, thank goodness! It just goes to show what a difference 30 years of age can make...I'm still feeling crappy.

They are trying to go 10 hours without the vent for mom today. If she does well, they'll try for 12 tomorrow. I'm so glad she's making progress again. The holiday's were much harder than I expected! Very emotional, but I know we are lucky we haven't lost her yet.

Hi Flo, Jen, Lisa and Carla! I hope you all had wonderful holidays!

Hi Helen! I hope you had a great weekend. Is Dave still out of town?

Here's to a great week for you all!

Marci,
I know what you mean about White Christmas and even Holiday Inn. I could tell what is going to happen in all the scenes. But those are till my favorate.

They don't make movies like that eny more.

:grouphug: and :wizard: for your mom. That is great news.

You are so right about getting sick. It takes you days to feel better and kids are up and about in no time (that is most of the time).

Valarie: take care of your back. Glad you had a great time on your minnie trip.

Tif - Happy Anniversary! Congratulations on 25 years.

Valerie - Hope your back is feeling better - I'll bet Thanksgiving away is fun. All our families are in the Atlanta metro area, so we always stay home for the holidays.

Tif and Lisa - I don't have either of your mailing addresses. Can you PM me or Flo with your address? Thanks! :thumbsup2 Flo - you are so great to always keep everything coordinated!

OK - in Atlanta, we don't have snow or snow tires either. It snows about 1.5 inches every other year, and it shuts down the entire metro area. Most of the time, though, it is so warm that it ices first, then snows on top so everything is slick. We didn't have any snow last year, so we're hoping for a little this winter. I have lived in Roswell/Alpharetta, Georgia, (20 miles north of Atlanta) all my life, so I cannot even imagine a White Christmas! Only in my dreams.

Lisa - what was the results of Emily's "favorite character" survey.

Marci - Thinking of you.

Carla...thanks for the congrats. The only thing is that it was only our 17th. We got married ON the 25th. It made me chuckle though when I read it, as Tom would have been arrested had we been married 25 years ago. I would have been 15 and he would have been 22, almost 23!

so...everyone doing well???
Hope so!
Love to you all!

Hey guys! This Texas girl may see snow today! Igot to work a little earlier so that I can leave to pick up the kids from school before the bridges freeze. I have something like 40 bridges to go over on the commute home.

I hope you all have a great day!

Hi all,

First of all Valerie,I hope your back is getting better I can relate to what your going through. Take it easy. I still go to the physio weekly, to get my general fitness up and to help with my core stabiliation. (I have a very wobbly core)

One of the things im using @ physio, and I am actually going to buy one from ebay, is a wobble cushion. It is a 35cm disc shape and you have to sit on it, pull your core in and try to life a leg up with out wobbling. Its very hard but it helps a lot.

Ive had quite an emotional day -Just got back from the hospital.
Last year I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis after years of pain. My gynea tried a few drug treatments but nothing really worked - it supressed the symtons rather than curing it. In Aug I was so up beat and confident after my cruise, when I saw my gynea I asked to be tranferred to another hospital (50 miles away) who I had found out specialised in endo.

I have just had my consulatation today with the specialist and I am going to have major surgery to have all the endo, lasered away and the cysts on my ovaries removed. The wait list is about 20-26 weeks which should be around April / may and mean I can get fit in time for my next cruise. I am so releaved I have had years of pain and now there is light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.

I just wanted to share with you - I hope you dont mind The surgery is of course scary but I am concentrating upon having a positive outcome.

Sorry if Ive not been on the boards lately, my mind has been preocupied with todays consulataion, but feel free to email me any time.

thank you all, I do hope you are ok

Helen xxx

Teeth???? if you have any questions I would love to answer them?? This game is put on by DIS not Disney....so what can I help clear up:)
And no you were not rude at all!!!

Helen -- that sounds like wonderful news! You must be so relieved! While I can understand dreading surgery of any kind, my best friend has had that same surgery done at least twice, and it wasn't hard to recover from with minimal pain. The worst for her was throwing up from the anesthesia, and most people don't have that side effect.

Please always share with us -- you guys have been my free therapy helping me through all the trauma with my mom's illness.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Marci,
Snow in Texas? They will have to shut your guys down. Do you even have salt truck or plows out there? We have a winter storm warning from 12:00AM tonight till 12:00PM tomorrow. They are expecting any were from 5 to 12 inches of snow. They have already canceled flights out of O'hare and Midway for tonight and tomorrow. So for us to time will tell. I will be waking up during the night looking out the window to see if it started. or if I hear the plows I know it is bad.
Time will tell.
Take care everyone and Hi to everyone to.
Later

Helen.....glad that you found that specialist and there looks to be light at the end of the tunnel. My good friend here also had endo and cysts. Her specialist told her that if she wanted to get pregnant she would have to have the surgery. They removed over 30 cysts with some the size of a peach! Well....after 6 months she got pregnant and was considered high risk but now......she has a beautiful 1 month old daughter and her pregnancy was a breeze.

Marci...snow sounds fun! We are having a cold spell right now....its in the high 50s at night ;) For us that is cold :sunny:

Can't believe tomorrow is December 1st! Gotta start wrapping some presents already.

Happy Holidays!

Jen

Marci,
DId you get your snow? We got ares. It We got so far about 3 to 4 inches. It is also cold her. It is 29.
Have a good day everyone!

Hi Flo! Yes, we got a little, and a little ice. Thankfully, it was 80 the day before so it didn't cause too much of a problem. We do have sanding trucks -- no plows that I know of, but the trucks were out in full force and were really helpful.

Jen -- are you getting excited about your trip? I'm beginning to, but also stressed about all we have to do before then.

Today is Andew's 11th birthday. He has a basketball game this morning, then I'm off to pick up his cake in Dallas, run errands, visit with mom, then Laser Quest with 25 kids.

Hope you have a great day everyone!
