Any one dealt with USAA for an auto accident claim?

All I know is that when I reported the incident to my insurance, as required by my policy, they were the ones who said they would handle everything with the other insurance company if that company did not settle within a certain number of days. I didn't ask them to. I may be wrong that they did this because I was one of their insureds, even though I did not have anything more than basic liability. I hope never to be in that situation again, but if I am, I will ask them to do that again. Again, I can only go on my experience, which is what causes me to have that expectation.
Let me put it this way your situation isn't like kdonnel's

Here is the replacement.

I was going to take my time to find my son a new car but ended up buying one already. It hurt to buy another car that runs on gas but was the best deal for him. It is a former dealer loaner that came with 3200 miles and $8000 off MSRP as a result. I have never bought a used car before, I hope I don't regret this one but with just 3200 miles I guess I could count it as new.
I bought a used Honda this way. It was a great car and I felt like an awesome deal. Then I passed it to my son when he needed a car. He totalled it last year at 5 years old and 55k miles. We were given almost what I paid for it 5 years prior plus taxes and fees. He took the money and added to it to buy a car 3 years newer.

I've dealt with them and they are great.

First, I'm surprised that you got a police report in 2 weeks (it's only been 14 days from the date of the 10/8/2024 accident). Around here, they don't respond to non-injury accidents but since yours took place on the highway, that could be a reason for their involvement.

Second, I never count weekends when dealing with insurance. Most adjusters don't work weekends.

October 14th was a federal holiday. Since USAA is geared towards military members, I would have expected them to have the day off.

According to this:
https://wallethub.com/answers/ci/ho...settle-a-claim-in-georgia-1000031-2140742115/

Insurance companies in Georgia have 40 days to settle a claim after it is filed. Georgia insurance companies also have specific time frames in which they must acknowledge the claim and then decide whether to accept it, before paying out the final settlement.

Insurance Claim Timeline in Georgia
  • 15 days to acknowledge the claim and send the policyholder instructions and paperwork. This includes proof of loss forms, which serve as a sworn statement from the policyholder about the scope of the damage or injuries.
  • 15 days to make a decision on the claim after receiving completed proof of loss forms.
  • 10 days to make the final payment if the claim is approved.
I would expect a similar timeline for the insurance company to deal with the other driver (not the policy holder) as I can't see any state making it a requirement that the non-insured (the person who doesn't have the policy with the insurance company) gets more time than the insured.

I had a police report the day of the accident. Was able to download it about 4 hours after the accident.

It is the complete lack of communication that has me annoyed.

Tomorrow will be two weeks since the claim was filed and I have received zero phone calls from the assigned adjuster.

We have USAA. We were rear-ended right after Xmas and the at fault, State Farm, took a while to move things along. I didn't have to call them as USAA did that for us. And they paid us and then had to get the money from State Farm. Our rental car period ran out and we did have to argue, to USAA, to get approved to keep it a little longer and they approved. Our car was totaled and payout took a while. Was a little slower than we expected, took about 16 days. Just may be the times. And we too had a police report right away. We were also moved around to a few different adjusters. But it all worked out in the end. Sort of. We never got reimbursed for the hotel and Uber we had to use after accident (we were on way home to FL from MD and in back woods SC when accident happened).

Came back to reread, thought occurred to me that everyone at all insurance companies has likely been asked to share the burden of processing all the claims from the recent natural disaster hurricanes. I wouldn't hold my breath, everyone is likely sitting in hotel rooms processing an unimaginable volume every day and this may keep up for a while.

i've never dealt with USAA but DANG-based on a quick Google search I hope never to have to-both BBB and consumer affairs give them horrific ratings from both policy owners and claimants (consumer affairs has them at a 1.4 rating with over 80% of over 2000 reviews rating them at the minimum 1 star).

fingers crossed for you op.

If you have USAA, I really hope you never have to use it or no one else needs to file a claim using your insurance.

I think my claim is finally going to be closed out.

Over the past 20 days I have called at least 3 dozen times, received 2 call backs, and 1 call from the estimator.

Today was the first time I got a call from the assigned adjuster but that was only after I made another 4 calls today.

To make an extremely long story short I finally got the total loss statement which was generated on October 21st but was never sent to me because a check box was not checked by the adjuster that has never called me.

The value is right within what I expected.

Vehicles actual cash value: $4620.00
Sales tax: $323.40
Vehicle fees: $48.00
Net Total: $4991.40

I was expecting $5000.

Now hopefully the process does not break down again and I get paid promptly, as required by law.

After my awful experience with USAA, they did pay promptly after finally settling. Hope you have the same experience.

I'm glad you are seeing some resolution. your experience is reminding me of a multi year battle I went through with AAA with whom I was insured at the time of an accident as well as the at fault party. as a claimant I was left with such a bad taste in my mouth I never wanted anyone I was at fault in an accident with to have to deal with. yes, I want an insurance company that represents me to work in my best interests but not at the cost of creating unneeded stress, delays and expenses for the wronged party. it represents poorly on me.
