Any one been the week before Memorial Day?

WE are thinking of going to WDW the week prior to Memorial Day. We would check in the Saturday prior (May 21st) and check out Thursday (May 26th). I was just curious about crowd levels. If anyone has been during this time frame can you pleaase let me know about crowd levels and weather. We are going w/ my parents, who have NEVER been to WDW before. So i really want to be sure they have a good time. Thanks for all the help!

we went during that time frame in 2002 and crowds weren't too bad. parks weren't empty but they weren't so crowded we didn't enjoy ourselves. we've going again at that time this year, so i'm hoping for the same kind of experience.

We went the week before Memorial Day last year. It was FABULOUS! Crowds were manageable and the weather was beautiful...

We get there the same day as you, but leave on Saturday morning (early).

We went to MK for the day in May 2002 (the 23rd) and it was definitely managable. We had a very nice time. Hope you do too!

I went that week, departing on Memorial Day. It was exceptionally warm that week (over 95 every day) b/c FL was in a severe draught. They were even having bad fires. The only time the crowds really picked up were the weekends. I had a great time though, would really recommend it.

I have only been the first two weeks of may.....this year I am doing the 20-30....!! cannot wait!

We went last year the week before Memorial Day and are going the same time this year. DH is in the Florida Half Ironman at FW.

It was HOT last year!

We went the week before Memorial Day for our honeymoon and it was not bad at all. We are used to going in Oct when the weather is nice and the crowds are small so I was a little nervous, but we enjoyed ourselves very much. It was my husbands first trip and he really got to see almost everything without a huge wait! So we say go for it, hopefully this year won't be too bad, but you have to remember that the celebration starts early May so it might affect the crowds. Just do some research. Good Luck!

We are going to be there the same time as the rest of you. We arrive on May 21 and then leave early morning on May 29. I've planned most of the site-seeing (thanks to tips from this board) earlier in the week, so on Friday, we will head to the beach/Cape Canaveral, and on Saturday, we will just relax by the pool and maybe hit a park for a few hours in the morning, if the kids are in the mood to do so. I believe the UG has ranked that Friday to be a 6 in terms of crowds (with 10 being the most crowded) and 8 for that Saturday. All other days from May 21-26 are ranked as 3, so not too bad!

Just made ressies and I will be there May 21st thru the 28th as well!! It will be just me and my brother. He graduates from Univ. of Buffalo in May and hasn't been to WDW since 1996 So I thought he deserved a trip! I usually go in September and am hoping it won't be too busy in May. Rebecca

I am planning a big trip for that week in May 2006. My DD and I are taking Neice and Nephew who have never been!!!

I am planning 7 nights the week before Memorial day weekend. Everyone thinks I am Crazy For taking an 8,10 and 14 year old by myself!
I told them I am going to wear their butts out!! They will have to keep up with me!!

I just don't get the fact that no discount codes have ever come out?? Not even for our Disney Visa's?? That is not right! We should get more perks with that card.

We want to stay at Port Orlean's French Quarter..It looks relaxing,but I know the kids will love the slide...If I can get a good code I may try AKL.

We're going the exact same dates! We currently have ressies at POFQ. Be prepared for very warm daytime weather. We were at Univ Studios this same week last year and it was quite hot during the day but cooled off a lot at night. We're going to work our crowd-avoidance schedule around the EMHs, depending on the feedback I get from the trip reports board from others who try out EMH earlier in the month.

Dh, 3 children, and I will be there May 21st through 28th, as well. We've booked AKL again but may consider splitting our stay with another resort. We booked this same week last year but ended up cancelling at the last minute due to reports of large crowds. We desperately needed a more relaxing vacation last year, so we headed for the beach instead. Surprisingly, WDW would have been much cheaper!

We were at WDW last year the week before Memorial Day. It was hot--95 degrees every day and NO rain. We thought it was crowded for this time of year. We used FP a lot and managed to not wait in lines very much. However, our only previous trip had been in Sept. We were there 2 weeks ago and the crowds were much lighter. We have never been in the summer. As we all know, crowds are relative. Get the Mk done early in the week before the holiday crowds hit. I'm sure you will have a great time!
