As you can tell by my recent threads and posts, I've been thinking a lot about my childhood lately..

Anyhow - my mom said that I used to love this one t.v. show when I was little that I can't remember the name of for love or money.. I think it was kind of like a puppet show - and I remember a red-haired woman with a puppet that was a lamb, I believe..:confused3

Also - does anyone remember "Mr. Squiggles" on the Frieghoffer's (sp?) Show?
(It may have been a local show in upstate NY..) They had a bunch of kids on there - he would pick out a kid to make a scribble on a large piece of paper - and then he would add on to it and make it a really neat picture.. At the end of the show, all of the kids got a box of Frieghoffer's Chocolate Chip Cookies to take home..:goodvibes

I remember Lamb Chop Play Along! I used to love it!

No clue about the other one though.

Could the puppet show have been Shari Lewis and Lambchop?
I don't remember the show's name but I remember Lambchop.

The Freddie Freihoffer Show! You could book your birthday party to be in the audience during filming. Somewhere in a storage vault, there is footage of my mother's shame... me, on TV for all to see, meticulously picking all the raisins out of my Freddie Freihoffer cookie and dropping them on the floor. I still hate raisins.

Yes - on both accounts!! :goodvibes

I think I also remember my mom mentioning something about a show called "Kookla, Fran, & Oliie"..:confused3 Any idea what that was about?

I remember Shari Lewis and Lambchop, I think they remade it in the 80's because I remember watching it with my oldest when he was little.

I don't remember the other show so it could be a local show or one that was before my time.

I also remember that one too. It was a puppet show with Fran being the adult.

Shari Lewis? She had a lamb puppet named Lambchop. I used to love her and try to talk without moving my lips!

I actually think the puppet show you are remembering is Kookla, Fran, and Ollie. That's the one I remember from my childhood (I'm 50). Shari Lewis and lambchop came later, I believe (might be wrong though).

Kukla, Fran and Ollie was another puppet show with Fran Allison being the human of the trio.

Thanks all! I'm glad that other show wasn't just a figment of my imagination - LOL..:goodvibes

color t.v. started being sold in the 1950's and became pretty common, and available in the 1960's.

Not in our house! We got our first color tv in 1973. Oh, we were probably the last people on earth to get one. We had to wait for that big console tv to finally break. My best friend's dad built his own from a kit, though, in about 1966 or 7. Theirs was one of the only ones in the neighborhood. He also had one of the first microwaves.

One of my friends parents had the first color tv on our block and that was in the mid to late 60's. I remember watching a somewhat greenish Capt. Kirk on it along with Get Smart and a couple of others that escape me at the moment.

One thing I do remember though is that, I believe in the early 60's the Ed Sullivan show, or one of those variety shows, had a grand experiment. You could order a plastic overlay for your set and on a special show they are going to stop action in the exact spot that reflected the plastic overlay. Half Screen. The bottom half would then be in color via the overlay and the top half would be black and white. It was done to show the contrast and supposedly get you to go out and buy a color set.

Ah, good times...good times!

I remember Shari Lewis and Lambchop too. :goodvibes

And Land of Play, and Romper Room. I always wanted her to say my name because she saw me in the mirror on Romper Room. But she always said more common names like Sally, Suzie, Mary, etc. Never my extremely uncommon name. :(

Oh me too. I have an uncommon name and I used to cross my fingers, waiting and waiting to be seen through the magic mirror.

I hated the puppets. I thought Lambchop was cute but I didn't like the show and I really hated Kookla, Fran and Ollie.

Kim must have been an un popular name then too. I can remember waiting to hear my name and only once did she say it.

I had Romper Stompers too. Were they from the show?? They were inverted plasticcups that you stood on with ropes that you held up tight to hold them on. Kind of like little stilts for kids.

Does anyone remember Captain Kangaroo and Mr Green Jeans?
