I have hit rock bottom with my weight issues. I am so depressed and feel like I have tried and failed at doing it on my own. I was thinking it may be easier to have the food picked out for me. I checked on the NutriSystem website and WOW is the food expensive! But if it works I might try it. Has anyone else done this? How good was the food? It looks really good on the website, and I found a lot of things I would like. Also, about how many pounds were the average that you lost a week?

I haven't done Nutri-Systems, but I did Jenny Craig, and I would imagine that the food is similar. JC food is expensive too, but it really worked for me. I lost 40 pounds in about 5 months. It's nice because it's convenient; you just pop it in the microwave, and it's done. It's also good, because you learn portion-control, which is a big part of weight loss. The food is nutritionally balanced with protein, fiber, and carbohydrates, etc.

I don't know about Nutri-Systems, but JC not only has the breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, but they also have desserts as well as snacks.

It's also a good idea to combine the weight-loss program with exercise. It doesn't have to be anything real rigid, but 30 minutes a day, at least 4-days a week. I walked and jogged for about 30 minutes, usually 6 days a week.

Best of luck to you!!

:goodvibesHey! I did not purchase NS, but my father did a few years back. I tasted a few of the meals he had and thought they were horrible! I couldn't eat them and even he stopped the meals shortly after starting. Big waste of money, as they were all thrown out a few months later.
I found that buying fat free or very low fat items that I usually ate in the regular form worked great for me. Fat free sliced cheeses, low fat cottage cheese and sour creams, etc. I also ate Michelina's Lean Gourmet frozen dinners and Lean Cuisine. Most were very good. Michelina's cost around $1-$1.50 each. Very reasonable. Another thing I did was cut way back on red meat. Chicken, pork, fish and turkey are my normal meats now and I love them! I still have an occasional steak or burger, but grilled, not fried. There are lots of low calorie items at the grocery stores now that actually taste pretty good and are WAY cheaper than NS or JC.
Good luck and I hope I've helped a little. If you want more ideas on cutting calories, feel free to pm me, I've got a lot!

I'm on NS, and I lost 32lbs. The food is so so. But you can try everything and then pick and choose what you do like. I'm eating so much healthier now, because not only are you eating the breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks that they send you, but you also supplement it with your own fruits and vegetables. I have 10 more lbs to go to get to my goal, but I have hit a plateau.

My co-worker brought a couple of shopping bags full of the food and put it in our work kitchen for people to have whenever they didn't have lunch. Most of us tried something ONCE. I thought the food was just awful -- tasted so-so but had a really horrendous after taste. She eventually threw the rest of the food away b/c no one woul eat it. I would probably feel so deprived if I were on that program that I would gain weight b/c I'd be looking for something else to eat!

Have you done Weight Watchers? You can get whole menus online, so your food is chosen for you with that, too, if you want. I think it's much better for the long term. I eat pretty much what my family eats, just less of some things and more of others.

My mom and I both tried nutrisystem. The food was absolutely disgusting. I never found anything I liked, or if I found something tolerable, it would end up having a horrendous aftertaste.

We ended up selling it all for 50 cents a piece at a yard sale.

I've had tremendous success with low carb.

I think it's pretty telling that Angelhalo and I posted at roughly the same time and both mentioned the "horrendous after taste." :rotfl:

Hahahaha I didn't even notice that! Its true though, the aftertaste was so gross and no amount of brushing seemed to help!

P.S. I see you're in Concord! I'm in Indian Trail. But, I also see you are a heel's fan. My brother went to NC State therefore we are doomed to be mortal enemies! LOL!!! Just kidding!

I tried it a few years ago. Yuck!

FYI, Nutrisystem now offers frozen meals... My Schwan's guy told me that it is thru them! The livesmart meals. Those are decent tasting. I have no idea of the price.

Good luck.

Not only does their food taste horrible the sodium content is through the roof. And then there is the fact that you spend even more money supplementing their meals with fresh fruit and vegetables.

MediFast is quicker, and less expensive (both due to the efficacy and the original cost).

Check with your Doc to see if you would be a candidate.

I wonder if you could get the same results by using the Healthy Choice or Weight Watchers frozen meals from the grocery store. It'd give you the portion control that's so important in these programs, but without the high prices.

My friend is doing Nutri System-smells nasty. And the portions are TINY. Really small.

She planned to cancel after Month # 2, but it had already shipped
