Any Non Disney Hotels With The X Factor !?

We are looking to stay in Orlando for 3 days after our Disney cruise.

....we don't want to stay on site but we are looking for a good quality hotel that really has the X factor ! Preferably something fairly new too (though not essential).

Particularly important to us are really great pool facilities (great landscaping, water chutes, lazy river etc would be a bonus) and anything that would appeal to kids of 12 & 8.

We stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress 2 years ago and my kids loved it. Alot to do and great pools. They had a rock climbing wall, par 3 golf course, bicycle rentals and I'm sure there's more but I'm forgetting at the moment. They are currently renovating all their rooms.

Ditto for the Hyatt Grand Cypress...
The pools alone are worth the trip! Waterslides, many hot tubs and grotto like pool areas. Free bikes, kayaks, sailboats, paddleboats, water trykes, rock climbing and pitch n putt (like a mini golf course) Basketball, tennis, bike/walk paths. Horseback riding (costs)
Excellent service . 2 awesome birds that talk in the lobby.

Though they have renovations going on, we weren't impacted at all (don't think anyone else was either)

The JW Marriott has a great pool area with a huge lazy river.

Our favorite non-Disney hotel is the Gaylord Palms. We'll often arrive a day or two early for our Disney trips just so we can stay there.

It really is a destination in itself. It's like a giant greenhouse...lots of flowers and plants, waterfalls, koi fish, alligators. Sometimes they have a Pirate adventure/treasure hunt in the fortress. And the pools are very nice, as well. They also have a computer with internet access in every room (it's included in the daily resort fee, as well as two bottles of water daily).

JW Marriott or Ritz Carlton Grand Lakes. WONDERFUL hotels, Lazy river pool and often can be had for cheaper then a Disney "deluxe" (and they are really Deluxe not just "pretty hotels") They do kids activities etc... Top notch resort!

Hyatt Grand Cypress is another good one! Gaylord is amazing but HUGE!
