Any NJ cops here.....I have a question

Does anyone know if one parking ticket if not paid can result in the suspension of a drivers license?
We are having a situation with my brother in law and I feel like I am being hoodwinked.

Tiggeroo- Wow, I would have bet almost anything that one unpaid parking ticket would not result in a drivers license suspension. I am happy I asked before I accused him of lying.

Charlie NJ--Thanks for the link. Unfortunatly, It does not have info on penalties for not paying tickets. But I found a lot of other helpful info on it Thanks again

The licencse gets suspended because you don't pay the ticket, which on the back will have a court date, that you are required to attend if you don't pay the ticket. Then you get your license suspended I believe for failure to appear. Not all districts do this, but some do. Definitely happened to me and cost me like 150. to fix it.

Could be worse - I actually had a bench warrant issued for my arrest for one (yes, just ONE) unpaid parking ticket in NJ a few years ago!

tstobb, that's what happened to me. First I had to pay the ticket, which equalled the bail. Then I had to go to motor vehicles and pay the suspended license fee. Big pain for a 15. ticket.

I paid the ticket like you but and $100 on top of that then STILL had to show up in court - the judge found it was a great way to generate even more revenue by charging court costs. Court costs were $25 so they had to spend the time & money to generate and mail me a $75 refund. Just another reason I moved out of NJ!

My DD was invited to work in NJ (she's a lifeguard) for a week in June. She received a ticket for not having her registration and insurance card with her. We live about 5 hours away, and it was required that she appear in court!!! I called and begged and pleaded and they allowed her to do it by mail. They really like to stick it to the tourists in NJ!!
